Hello.

Some time ago I got 2 Top loaders units sold as no working, junk....but both worked great, the real problem was that one had a broken lid and the other no lid at all...

Anyway both works excelent, my problem is that I only have 1 original AC adapter, and I want to sell a unit, because I dont need 2, I just bought both because they were dirt cheap..

So I want to sell one with his AC adapter but I need one for me... So I follow some guides and try to make my own custom AC adapter, but none of them worked right for my units, so I made one, but I dont know if its safe what I did.

I use a HDD AC adapter that outputs 12v-5v, on some guides says that 12v is ok for the NGCD but my units didnt worked at all with 12V and 5v line, It seems they are very picky with the voltage.

So I take readings from the original AC adapter and I got exactly.

On paper Reality

10v - 9.75v
5v - 5.70v

9.75v its a little low.. and 5.70 a little higher...but ok, I decided to match the exact same voltages on both lines, so I use a downstep dc-dc converter for the 12v line and a upboost converter for the 5v line, and it worked, no other voltages worked on both units, I have to match the original one...

I 3D printed a custom case and put everything together and it worked but I dont know if this is going to catch fire if I leave it connected for a prolonged time..

So If someone have an opinion or recomendation about my work it would be apreciated... thanks

Replacement ac adapters cant be that hard to find…
Idk, man. The CD consoles have that proprietary connector. They are kind of a pain in the ass to source on their own. There isn't really a readily available generic solution.

That said, I hope someone with more knowhow about voltage and polarity weighs in on your project, thearthur. Because I don't know, but I do know that it's easy to fry your shit if the specs are off.

Really? Haha, ok then. Tbh, I haven't had to deal with a power adapter for CD since like 2010, and I recall it was an issue in those days. Glad to know there are solutions now.

Edit: ok then, sincere question here for the OP... Why you do this, bro?
You're risking frying your shit instead of just buying a proper power adapter for it.

Ok.. its seems that everyone is asking why to do something stupid like this if there are better solutions on the web.. just buy one..just google it!!!

1. All those solutions are expensive. (yes Im cheap)...

2. I dont want to spend 50 to 70 dlls + shipping + import taxes... (again.. Im cheap).

3. Its a project, if I could make it work (which I did) for the third of the cost why dont try it? (I like to do stuff)

4. I already have an original one, I could keep it, but I dont need 2 consoles, so I want to sell one with the original ac because I dont want trouble with the buyer so this custom ac is only for my personal use..

5. I thought that in this tech forum someone with more knowledge will have a tech opinion about my work if its dangerous what i did and that I should just throw it away...

Well maybe I should do that and just buy one..

Anyway.. thanks everyone for all the links and recomendations.
