ONLY 440#
And one was just on the other side of my town's river...

It was from a rich-ass engineer and he was giving it away as he was selling his 5*****Stars apartment and just wanted to get rid of it. It was supposed to go to a friend of mine, but he took long to decide and when he went for it, the appartment was already sold and no signs of that behemoth!

That video has a chart in it explaining how the larger you go with a tube the thicker the glass and lead lining need to be to keep it from imploding under vacuum. It’s amazing the thing was ever made honestly.

If I ever get one I’m hiring @herb and and one or two of his power lifting buddies.

Trinitrons use more glass than other more curved screens.

BVM-20F1U
Got a non working BVM cheap, bought a refurbished ISR. It’s working great, need a 10 or 11r to really configure it. But the geometry and color settings aren’t that bad.

I found another 20F1U from a local guy.
This one has a bad PA board, I sent it out to Pat Savon and it can't be fixed it has a bad chip. So it looks like this one will just be spare parts, boards, and a tube. Finding a PA board is really hard, but in the meantime I'll try to find one. The positive was I have spare parts for this finicky BVM, but also snagged off of it the bottom mount bracket for the controller.
I started to calibrate it with a friend, he has the tools, we got the convergence and the colors looking amazing. But stupid me, put a dead battery in the ISR module, and it didn't save the calibration. So next time I need to write down the numbers, and values incase that happens again.

Gotta admit, for the price it would be fun to take this home and screw around with it a bit, but I know I have absolutely no real use for it.

Sony KP-7200 at the Goodwill for $35

Had the remote and looked like all of the screen frame was there as well as the screen. Opened it up to take a look, looked to be in good shape.

Jeez i get depressed if i have to move a 20 inch PVM. Cool story though. I love how to original owner was like back then things were made to last. Like no bro. Early 90 late 80 is the most horrible time for electronics and built quality

Nineties SONY tech wasn't built to last. I never had a sony product from that period that didn't require some maintenance or repair.
Always bad caps, brittle plastic,..
an 80ties sony products almost always works straight out the gate
