CPS2 freaks out when I use the memory check

So I've been fixing my service/volume up/volume down buttons and taking this opportunity to run a memory test, available through the service menu. All of my games run the test just fine giving me an OK to every test. However, my Night Warrior board does that:

The game seems to be working just fine, I've played though it a couple of times and didn't experience any kind of glitch so I'm not really sure what's happening here.

What's actually being tested by "EEP ROM"? Is this something I should worry about? Something fixable? I really like this game and I don't wanna try and play it in a few years and find that it's not working anymore :(

Yeah. Why give a fuck what the check says then?
Because SOMETHING is wrong, or else the memory check woudn't fail. I didn't notice what's wrong (yet) and it could affect the game in the long term, so I'd like to know what it means to make sure it's gonna be ok for as long as I can keep it.

Everything will fail and die at some point, but if it's working, then ... enjoy it

The EPROMs inside the A Board are where configuration settings and bookkeeping stats are saved. The EPROM test tries to save values into the EPROMs and then confirms that the same values are read back out of them.

The part number is Atmel AT93C46. There are two of them.

Since the EPROMs are in the A Board, you should see the same test fail no matter what B board you're using. However, some games have more thorough tests than others.

If the EPROMs are bad, it's likely that the only real side effects you'll see is that the game will reset to default settings every time and bookkeeping won't save.
