Hi there
I have a chunky arcade stick which works on SNES and Megadrive. I've opened it up, and all the microswitches are easily accessible, so I decided to add Neo-Geo CD support to it. Went and got a 15-pin PC joystick extender cable, snipped off the male end, and proceeded to follow the connections as shown in gamesx. It looked a pretty easy job (all buttons and directions to a commmon ground I thought) It didn't work.
I've since done some investigating of my own - it seems the directional joystick uses a standard pin-to-pin method, with a common ground. So its very easy to make any joystick work direction wise.
The buttons however, do not. I'm not sure exactly how they work, but it is clearly a very simple circuit, probably just need a couple of extra components. Thing is, what components are they ? Anyone know about this ?? I'm sure this would be of great use to a lot of people, as PC extender cables and arcade parts are a lot cheaper than the arcade stick !!
thanks
Allan
