I have a monitor that I have been meaning to get recapped, bought the caps and everything just hadn't made the time to do it. Thankfully darnok's post here alerted me to the specialty arcade monitor repairer City Game in Spain. But where in Spain? Contact details were few, but the place came highly recommended and I trusted that such a noted repair shop would be a source of pride for the Spanish people.
So I booked my flight (2 seats so I could have my monitor safely next to me.). Unfortunately, I spent my ten day trip wandering Spain with a CRT on my back asking if anyone knew where I could find City Game, but my Spanish is poor, Spain is big, and a 25" CRT is heavy, so I didn't cover as much ground as I had hoped, I should have planned for two full weeks off.
But thankfully on my return darnok had supplied a website to reach the venerable City Game. So now, I'm shipping my monitor to Spain for service by the professionals at City Game. A recap job is a very reasonable price. Sure, crating and shipping costs there and back will be expensive, but I'd rather take my chances with freight for the high quality services by City Game rather than any of the local hoodlums.
I will let everyone know my experience.
