Changing version of games?

I have X-men vs Street Fighter & i believe its version 3. I want to change it to version 2 so i can practice doing those crazy combos.

Does anyone know how to change versions of games?

On a non battery board you could. However, that would require Version 2 clean/phoenix ROMs to reprogram.

Most, if not all clean/phoenix ROMs are final revisions.

Program roms 03 and 04 needs to be changed, burn two other eproms with the revision code that you want and install them.


You will need to burn the original code for it to work on a battery board (same region code of your board).

Revision 961023 is definitely more balanced than the others, most of the infinite combos were fixed.

Of course but usually people wants to upgrade revision instead of downgrade.

Can't Razoola make those versions if you ask when getting a phoenix from him?

The people doing the clean versions should definitely be doing certain revisions other than the last. For example, tournament standard for Vampire Hunter Darkstalkers Revenge is 1995/03/02. I'll copy pasta the changes

1995/03/02: Initial Japan version (Japan tourney and DCC viable version, also used in Darkstalkers Resurrection)

1995/03/16: Final Japan Revision (All other versions including later World region verisons are based on this version)
Bugs and Glitches

1995/03/02 only:

Bishamon's ES Kirisute Gomen doesn't use up any meter

Gallon's ES wild circular will use up all levels of meter

Felicia's ES hell cat will use up all levels of meter

Aulbath's ES Crystal Lanser will use up all levels of meter

Aulbath's ES Sky Neptune will use up all levels of meter

Pyron's ES Planet Burning will use up all levels of meter

Phobos/Huizil jumping MP knocks down grounded opponents.


I have version 2 of X-men vs Sf. What is funny about version 3 is that they didn't remove many infinites,it seems they removed mostly the shotos ones. Version 3 is what the saturn version is built on.

I can still Hyper Grav X Roundhouse infinite the whole cast on version 3 with Magneto for pringles goodness.
