So here' a quick rundown.
I'm a huge Castlevania enthusiast (finished all of the GBA/DS Games).
Bought this game yesterday at around 5/6 in the afternoon.
Note that I have only played Single Player (Xbox Silver Account).
Game is absolutely stunning and engaging, presentation, soundtrack are fabulous and loot collecting is very addicting.
Before I knew, I have finished the game...at around 6 in the morning, that's how gripping it is.
Last form of the last boss is no joke if you're going alone (last incarnation), it wasn't in Rondo of Blood nor SOTN (flashback).
So yeah, as a single player game (and I assume multiplayer) game shines, don't let some of the reviews discourage you, it's a robust adventure game that has whole lot of replayability that made other Castlevania games so enjoyable to go through multiple times.

the game stinks...impulse reaction from paying $15 on a game thats percieved value is $5-10.

If it had a patch to speed thing up instead of the slow-mo action of now and some check points instead of its megaman esquie "lets take it from the top" mentality, I may say this game was cool.

But being a NEOGEO zombie, I take no offence to the over-re-use of sprites

yup, that's the idea.
all of the characters differ (they have unique abilities and ways to level up).
so you'll spend a lot of time going through levels over and over to power up and beat the game, and then hard mode is being unlocked which is considerably tougher but loot on hard mode is way cooler.

It is one of the best values on XBLA, I beat the game on normal and hard mode in single player but I keep coming back because you can still power up (I'm at around 25 hours mark in the game).

$15 is a steal for this masterpiece and I cannot wait for dlc (music selection has track "hail from the past" which is from Portrait of Ruin, Pyramid level, presumably that's the new chapter we're going to get as downloadable content).

Whoever designed the game must have been abused by an IKEA store. I start the level and the boss is close, but I have to go through the whole store....er, stage to get to it.

Soo, I've been playing as Shanoa. Will I ever get another "B" button move...?

I take it back, Sithvania is awesome once you find a master that would babysit you through rare items galore

I loved the pyramid level music in Portrait of Ruin. I think it was the only memorable tune from that game.

If anyone wants to add me, I'm game for running through with some people; I'm seriously sick of running into Val/Yas spammers and having to get mine out, it's just no fun that way :( my gt is EvilToastyBagel (usually play at night)

Bumpity-bump-bump-bumpity-bump-bump.

Over the past few weeks we've gotten a new level and four new characters; does anyone still playing this? I've got ALOT of grinding to do :(

it is the best Castlevania ever in my opinion. Always wanted a Castlevania like this but I think it would have been better if it require eliminating all enemies before players could access the boss. As it is, people can rush and defeat the boss in a few minutes. But the new characters add more flavor and they really should add more maps.

But one important thing is they should port it to PSN also so more can enjoy it. It has tons of replay value despite starting with only 6 maps. As long as people don't play it with a loot/grind objective, they'll have fun and develop at a more decent rate instead of being all stressed out impatiently waiting to cap all the skills.

I saw someone asked about this, so I hunted down the original thread

So now we have two MORE stages with two more coming out (one a week) as well as 8 bit Simon and the oh so epic Getsu-Fuuma. I can't fucking wait :buttrock:

Anyone from here can add me, I'm always looking for people to run with who aren't elite douches.

How does this compare to Castlevania Adventure Rebirth on WiiWare...

It is honestly the most baffling game i have ever played. Konami set it up to take as much money as possible. When its all said and done the dlc and game will cost more than a regular game. That being said it brings old school castlevania gameplay and combines it with obsesive loot grinding. The only thing i can even compare it to is if you combined symphony of the night with PSO. That for me is a deadly combo.

Hey, if this does well enough. Will there be a release for PS3?

Or definitely no?

This makes me really wish I had a 360.
