Something seems funny about that video...that truck ran 11.5...if a Viper can't run that it might be driver error...

What do you think Vipers run from the factory?

an srt-10 should run ~11.7

(z06 runs that too)

More than once, a stock LS7 z06 has ran in the extremely high 10s. Low 11.1-11.3 is pretty common though with a competant driver.

I'm not really sure what vipers run, but from what I've seen of the 08s, I'd guess somewhere in the mid/low 11s. The older ones probably high 11s.

I'll tell you why the 350Z is going down in price.

The 370Z is coming this way.

Supposedly the 370z is going to be 350hp (albeit with a pretty low torque rating because it's a v6) and weigh about 3100lbs. Thats going to be one impressive little car.

It's going to be one bad ass car. And honestly, if I buy another car in the near future I could very well see the 370Z being it.

Once my house is up, I'm going to be in the car market. Unfortunately, the 370z isn't a candidate. Any car I buy would be a daily driver, so it needs to have at least some storage space to haul groceries and a secord person or what have you. The 350z doesn't even have a trunk of any sort, and the 370 is rumored to be substatially smaller than the 350, so I doubt it'll hvae one either.

What I might do is just get a base vette. Base 1lt vettes are about 41-42k new with my gm discount.

The Corvette is still a great choice as well. Are you going to wait for the next gen one or look for a C6 or earlier Corvette when the time comes?

If I do decide to get a vette (I'm not sure if I want to spend that kind of cash on a car yet) I'll probably try to get an 08/09 c6. The ls3 is plenty of engine (shit, a few people have got ls3 vettes into the 11s), so I won't be tempted to mod. Plus it actually has a trunk, so I can haul my snorkling gear and groceries around. Depending on the cost, I might try and get z51 on it as well.

I'd never buy a Vette as a daily driver.

But thats just me...

the vette is probably the most daily driver friendly car of its kind.

Not for performance or durability - but the risk of getting it all dinged up and such.

Depends on the year. Older vipers actually ran high 11s and low 12s from what I can find. The 08 should be able to get in the 11.5 range pretty easily though. I take it that was an older viper on the track.

Yeah, not too old...

There are a few high HP Cummins in your neck of the woods...

You guys should really keep an eye on diesel performance - if not in trucks, BMW, Audi, GM, Honda, Nissan and others are getting on board.

Buddy of mine just bought a ram with a cummins turbo diesel in it. Don't think he's going to actually bother modding it or anything fun though. The only mods I see done to trucks around here are putting rediculous looking lifts on them while leaving on the tiny stock tires.

With just a $700 programmer he can get that truck in the high 13's low 14's - and thats over 4 tons.

Also, if you have a GM discount, why not look into a CTS-V? Those are ignorant.

There's a diesel R8 on the way.

The new ctsv is indeed awesome, but I imagine it'll be around 60k even after my gm discount, and that discount doesn't cover really high vehicles like the z06 and zr1. I'm not sure if the new ctsv would even be included. Either way, 41k or so is about the max i'll put into a car anyways, and even then it's a lot.
