All in all this game looks neat. With the amount of crap that's come out over the years this is something slightly different to see. Pricewise I'd have to go with Tak's suggestion and hope a Neo CD version happens.

Keeping our fingers crossed for this, but for sure we'll be offering several cheaper options, physical & digital. DC port is already working, we sent a Beta to the Segaguru (cool YT dude), he may do a video about it :)

Ozzy posted 2 more "play safe" VS "play for score" sequences to show more gameplay:

Thanks

I'm assuming this, like Cyborg Force, won't work alongside other carts in an MVS ?

(tbh the compatibility with multi-slots is the biggest selling point of Xeno Crisis / Bitmap Bureau titles for me)

That's correct unfortunately - same issue, you'll have your selection cursor locked on the game once you select it.

Totally understandable if that's not feasible for y'all to overcome but if you do, I'd be a likely buyer!

We're taking one challenge at a time.

First, to break the burp barrier:

More gameplay to watch while I'm at it (shows the "gem" system again)

If you can make it okay for multi cart use in a cab, I WILL buy as well

Aw. We did try to address the issue several times, but honestly didn't realize it could matter that much, so we'll add a mention about it to the FAQ on our website. Unfortunately, given what we suspect it is due to, it is not something we can fix, sorry :crying:

is it just me, or is the main character a little to slow? Is that by design?
I reviewed some footage of Zupapa and NitD to see if i was just remembering things differently.

No, it's not you, the walk speed is slower in our game. That goes to show how simple and similar designs can eventually differ quite a bit on a sum of details, as I don't think the overall feel of our game is less dynamic. Walk speed is slower because you need the precision to push the barrels and place them right where you want them, and also because we included some (sometimes tight) platforming, particularly in the last World...
But on the other hand the gravity makes the jumping less floaty than in NITD for example; there are very few walls, you can jump down platforms (ie you don't have to reach their ends to go down, you can press down + jump to go down one platform), your sword slashes are fast and it takes three (on regular settings) to knock down an enemy... All in all, not the same feel :)

Some more gameplay videos illustrating how the Bomb item affects play and allows you to tailor the difficulty to your goals: survival or high score.

If you want to play safe, you can just grab the bomb and fire away:

If you want to target the highest score, you use barrels only, and avoid picking up the bomb (it turns into a diamond once the screen is cleared)
Is this influenced by Pirate Ship Higemaru? The ability to use barrels reminds me of that game :)

It IS compatible with multislot boards!
Just not with the game select function. I added it to the FAQ the other day after mmsadda's post :)
Ah! so it WILL cycle through the other 3 games in a 4 slot? So you just cant use the 'select' button? If so thats great

I haven't got a 4-slot myself, and reports about this weren't quite explicit so I'll need to ask to have this confirmed. I'll let you know :)

Ok so I got the answer: if our game is in the slot, it's the only game that starts. You can not cycle through the other games. So you can only play our game, and it doesn't matter which slot you put the game in...
Sorry dude :crying:

Weird request tbh. It's hard enough to get 4 official games to cycle through on most 4 slots, let alone homebrew.

just placed an order and looking forward to playing a pirate. My kids will love it. Thanks!

Thanks lots!
Saw your request about the digital rom; it does come in a variety of ready-made format including analogue pocket :)

Nice Astro City. It's good to be able to see a developer playing their own game. It provides insight into the intention of the design. In the early days I would have preferred to discover that myself, but with gaming as saturated as it is now, it's good to be have that insight.

Oh, not me playing - and not my cab unfortunately :crying:
@zouzzz was an active playtester, though, so he knows the ropes. There was some tough competition among the team, it'll be fun to watch if the highest score gets broken. :)

Sorry. For some reason I thought I read that it was Ozzy playing.
