I like Nicole Kidman's performance in "Moulin Rouge" than as Virginia Woolf in "The Hours"...

Capcom Vs Snk 2 is a much better game than the original. The original had a more classic old school feeling. It also felt incomplete.
The sequal on the other hand is what the original should have been in the first place!
Clearly,Capcom Vs Snk 2 is the total package offering much more of an experience than the original!
After you play CVS2 its really hard to go back and play CVS.Mainly because of the lack of gameplay features.
So i prefer CVS2 over the original CVS.

Capcom vs SNK hands down. Its the OG.

Better music, better stages, better presentation, tighter roster.

Um, 2 probably cause it has a little more SNK feel than one.

CvS2 is a better game, plain and simple. The only thing it doesn't have are the nice bgs from CvS1, but that's it. Oh, and the smoke coming out of Orochi Iori's mouth. CvS1 is fun, but having the moves split into two different characters, and having to turn on run (can't have dash and run on at the same time) just leave much left to be desired. Plus the Grooves and ratios. CvS2 improved on these 2 fold. N groove for life, baby :buttrock:

Must concur with SonGohan here.

Yeah, I miss the 'danger music' and awesome BG's from CvS1...but the gameplay was totally broken. Nako OWNS everyone in that game when used properly. The four button gameplay just feels all fucked up for the Capcom folks as well.
Not only that, but the divided SNK cast with the 'EX' versions was just shitty. They fixed all these things in CvS2, despite muddying things up a bit with lame tunes and 2.5D backgrounds.

Now if they'd just add Ralf,Leona, Andy, and Lee (LB) into CvS3 and go back to 100% 2D BGs we'd be all set.

Cool thing though, is that you can turn on classic tunes in CvS2, so there's at least one part that isn't totally ruined :)

Balance issues aside, CvS2 was much better than CvS1 in the gameplay area.In CvS1, you could see how weak those snk fighters really are especially Kyo but in CvS2, he has some mean juggles.CvS2 is what CvS1 should have been, indeed!:)

Please tell me that wasn't a typo and I'm just not seeing that option.

It was a half typo. While I was thinking of actually turning on that option from SNKPro, I was remembering listening to the old tunes on the practice stage. So I'm half right still :D

well Part one was more down to earth like it could actually happen, it more of the whole Street Fight aspect to it, had more story in my opinion and it tied in things better. had better music

Part 2 had more chars which was a good thing loved seeing some of the characters, the grooves were nice, but it was too.... bouncy... people bounced off of everything... it had too much capcom in it... as opposed to part one... my personal choice

Part 1 :)

Damn. :)

Was hoping I could switch out CvS2's music for something good.

nah the music on CvS2 reminds me of MvC2 :eek_2:

I totally agree with that.It really does remind me of MVC2 music.
Im sorry but the last time Capcom made a great soundtrack in a fighting game with character themes, was way back in 1998 with the original Marvel Vs Capcom.
Their soundtracks after that have been theme based, such as weird techno SFA3 music,hip-hop SF3:TS,Jazz and enviromental MVC2 and weird enviromental music thats suppose to fit each stage for CVS2.I wish Capcom goes back to their old ways and use character theme music thats based on their personalities and nationality backgrounds like they use too.

CvsS 1 is my personal favorite. Like someone else previously mentioned, it has a more "street fight" feel to it. Plus the 2D backgrounds blow the 3D ones from CvS2 away. Add that to the sheer amount of play time I've devoted to 1 instead of 2 and the first comes out on top.

that and the fact that CvS part1 had things to unlock alternate colors, ex characters, hidden stages, just about everything that's what i think a majority of the replay value is :)

The unlocking in CvS1 was more tedious than anything else. How much did you get if you completed the game? 500 pts at most? Unlocking colors seemed to only waste time, just so you could complete what you needed to get the better stuff. Unlocking EX characters was ok, but they cost entirely too much.

Also another thing I didn't like about CvS1 was the button layout. I hate having to press df + K just to get a strong sweep. 4 buttons just didn't cut it. That, and the grooves really didn't have anything to offer.

Well in comparing CVS to CVS2,i can start with the graphics.
First of all the character sprites seem more pixelated in CVS2 than the original(i have know idea why though),also half of the returning 3-D real time effects are more pixelated as well.
The reason behind that i know,Capcom chose to scale and enlarge the effects to make them look bigger and huge.
In the process though they became pixelated.
Some of the new 3-D real time effects are much better than the previous ones. Most noticeable one's are Ryu and Ken's fireballs.
But Kyo,Iori and Mai flames looked so much better in the original.
Now as for the backgrounds it all comes down to what you prefer,2-D or 3-D.
To be totally honest both games have beautiful backgrounds.I like both titles backgrounds equally.
The original Capcom vs Snk backgrounds surpasses even the Guilty Gear X titles backgrounds(most so in style and overall artistic quality). In Capcom vs Snk 2 the backgrounds are 3-D but they're done in a way to mimic the artistic quality of 2-D and they are simply beautiful. They also are much more detailed and better designed than the backgrounds in Marvel vs Capcom 2(i do miss the Snk style intro's from the original though).
Now on the matter of sound, the sound effects and voices are pretty much even with each other. The soundtrack on the other hand is much better in the original(although i would have prefered character theme music over the techno style music used in CVS).
But CVS2 have a few awesome tracks, most noticeable ones are,The London Stage,Shin Akuma theme and God Rugal theme.
Infact i would go so far as saying that Shin Akuma theme is the best track out of all the tracks thats in both versions CVS and CVS2.Its really that great!
Now gameplay is where CVS2 really outshines the original CVS.It has so much more than the original,6 button,6 grooves,EX customize style grooves, grooves are more complete unlike the original where the only thing that seperated them were the way you perform your supers.
Much balanced gameplay, free ratio select, larger cast of characters and so much more.
In the end though CVS2 is a much better game than the original CVS.It excels over it in the most important area and thats gameplay.
