Just passing by to let you all know, Candy cab owners, and Astro City/NAC and Egret 2 owners specially, that I recently came across this guy in Spain which is a real beast making arcade art reproductions, he did an exact replica of the Daytona USA side art http://zonaarcade.forumcommunity.net/?t=56279414

He even managed to replicate that dot pattern that most repros have failed to emulate until now, the only "problem" is that to make exact copies he first need someone to send the original ones so he can vectorize them, is there anyone here with a pair of NOS willing to contribute?

I think he prints them in adhesive vinyl for the most part, but he also take "special" jobs, another guy from that same forum got his Aero City marquee art printed on a nylon sticker.

This guy's been banned from almost every notable forum. He basically tells people he'll scan and share the artwork they ship to him, then puts it behind a paywall and lies about it.

He seems pretty scummy and doesn't ever actually address any issues people bring up.

If someone gets me some high quality scans/measurements my artist can pretty much make anything up/possible. Happy to help out where/when I can. I've been slowly working on the "dots" on the astro side art (turns out half-tone is a real bitch).

That NEON is actually pretty difficult to do with "standard" solvent printing. There are "neon" inks but the printer required is about $30K because it requires the 7 or 8 heads. (CMYKWS+NEONs)

The biggest problem I saw so far in Astro's in replicas, is the hue/shade method (and of course, the small-text orientation, not mirrored correctly)

Original ones are made using points of different sizes, and that's what he did on that Daytona...if he could make an Astro side art like that..then it would be top.


Edit: sorry, just realized dots have been already mentioned :P

You're right, they are ugly as hell. Nicks and messed up side art. But they are clean through and through. It makes me lol when I see someone go out of their way to try and restore the cab to almost new with repainting and such. Too much money and prolly spent more than the cab cost new.

Mikonos is a first class asshole, liar and thief and banned on every forum he was on, he plays the fool but knows exactly what he is doing .

Tries to collect as much art as possible, tricks people to trade him scans for free and then shares nothing in return.
He believes one day all good art will be destroyed and he will achieve word domination, everyone will have to buy printed art from him for lots of money Muahuahaha ...
