Could even be bit rot on the M1 since most copies have an exposed window. But I think it might even be bad EXTRA V roms. The two that aren't used could be a problem if they are still connected, you can try snipping the control legs (11 & 13) on V1 and V2 as BAM uses V3 and V4. If it clears up then we will know that it's the extra roms.

Thanks man Ill give it a shot but I'll have to post a pic of the board tonight because im not sure where to start counting the legs to get to those numbers. I'm assuming I could resolder the legs if I cut them high enough? Not that it really matters since, like you said the roms arent even used.

If you use a nice pair of side cutters, you can cut them in the middle.
With the notch facing up, you count counterclockwise. The upper left pin is #1.

Well I think you were partially right. I wasnt able to snip them, but I had to pry them with a small flathead. On one chip the legs came out of the chip itself, i left the legs soldered in the board.
On the other chip the legs came out of the board so I had to fill them with some solder. I don't see any cut traces on the board at least.

As for the sound, it's a bit better, there is less crackle (its still there mostly on the right audio side) but now the sound effect of the bubbles bursting sounds exactly like a high pitched euro car horn. It's actually pretty comical to hear.

Not really sure what else can be done at this point but some marginal progress here. Maybe I have also done something wrong by my technique as well, let me know.

Thanks guys.

Does it go back to normal when the pin is reconnected?

Did you disconnect the right chips? It should be the leftover chips from the volleyball game, not the PB V roms.
Some of the traces are daisychained to all chips, if you pulled out the pad / broke the trace, that would explain the car horn sound instead of the bubble pop.

But i think we're on to something, if only the pop sound is affected by your action?

I don't think there is any way I can reconnect the pins back into the chips, they are pulled out on a few now.

Here are some pics showing the V roms top and bottom. Let me know if there is anything else you want to see. Sorry if they arent the greatest, cell phone cam is not so good.

Can you make a video so I can hear what yours sounds like? I removed V1 and V2 on mine and the sound is still working properly. The only sound effect that I get a slight crackle on is the bubbles popping.

Here is a link to the vid, sorry for the quality but it should give you an idea. The BGM is low, the bubble SFX are either not there or when they attach/pop they sound like a car horn. Also there is some speaker blowing low bass pulsing you can really hear at the end.
Damn this is starting to sound like a music video review!
