Who gaf about that dead drunk
I have a feeling you'd like his work more than you think. Maybe his Nick Adams stories, which have been collected a number of times. But also The Sun Also Rises. Stars a disillusioned US expat kind of drifting around and day drinking.
I probably wouldn't have even read that book, except I happened to flip to the first page while browsing a bookstore back when those were a thing. One of the opening lines on page 1 caught my eye, made me laugh, and the oddness of it as a novel's opening was enough to make me buy the book.
I still remember that line.
"I mistrust all frank and simple people, especially when their stories hold together." It's a fucking fantastic novel. It's in my top 3, no question.
