I got bored this weekend and decided I really wanted to play under defeat on my Astro. At this time I really can't afford $500 for the GDRom, so I did the next best thing, I built a dreamcast to Sega candy cabinet interface. Its not quite jamma yet, but I have plans to make a modular jamma device in the near future which will accecpt both Dreamcast and PS2.

Here's what I did:

*Rewired my VGA box completely and attached it to the side of the DC. It needed to be rewired because Blaze used the cheapest PCB possible, and all of the leads broke loose from the board. I retraced everything and attached the input wires to component legs.

*Wired player 1 and player 2 mad catz dreamcast pads to be Sega control panel compliant. As it is right now, they each have female control panel plugs on them.

Here's how it works:
*This setup currently uses my Capcom I/O for RGB amplification and Stereo -> Mono amplification. As soon as I find a good RGB amp schematic, I'm going to build a modular jamma interface that all of this will plug into. I'm going to build it in a manner so that I can use dreamcast, PS2 and whatever other devices I desire.

And the reslut:

Orgasmic...

Peace for now!

It's funny you did this, as I just did this myself last week. lol! On my old Virtua Fighter Evo machine. Drilled new holes to make it six button. High res. Stereo sound. It's fucking amazing! Those mad catz controllers are so damn easy to hack, it's not even funny.

Yeah the mad catz are pretty easy to hack, its the Blaze VGA box you need to be careful with. The damn thing is so janky, but it works like a charm. I swear the PCB is made out of cardboard

I'm not sure which VGA I have. It's in a clear blue little box. Never had a problem with it. When my color coordinated joysticks come in (I'm anal, lol), I'll post a picture.
