I am going to be building a standalone two player control panel this weekend to use with my supergun and need some advice.

I was planning to use 3/4" MDF for the whole thing. But I am wondering if that is going to be too thick to use with the joysticks? I have two JLFs on the way and will hopefully be here next week. In the meantime I wanted to go ahead and build everything out.

Does anyone have experience using Sanwa JLFs with 3/4" or thicker control panels?

If the material is to thick, just counter sink the back side

I was thinking about that but I have zero experience with wood working tools. Do they have something to easily do that?

Not up to date on my wood working tools but I believe a router is needed. Check out this thread and more specifically post #23

You can actually get happ mounts for the sanwa stick from paradise arcade, might want to take a look at those.

You could also just purchase a Sega control panel and just route the wood base to size for the panel. I've seen some done this way and they usually end up looking pretty pro.

Like this, but obviously made of wood. You could make the wood look real glossy like that too. Good luck!

Yea, I was thinking about possibly using plexiglass for the top of the control panel.
