Well got it up and running. Pulled the monitor and put it in horizontal position, it was sent to me in vertical. Cleaned a lot of grime and crap off the monitor surround and the cp. Started on the inside of the CP, thats going to take a couple rounds. Cleaned up the power supply insides and the shot as much of the monitor stuff with compressed air as I could. Hooked up a 60 in 1 Jamma board I had bought to hold me over until my MVS got here, then realized it only works in a vertical monitor position....well shit.... :O

Going to start painting probably tomorrow, try to get the doors and maybe cp done. Thanks for the help with my questions so far, my first cabinet and first time running actual arcade hardware as well.

It looks deceptively like the 001 loom pictures I have seen everywhere, but I don't have any RCA jacks on mine, unless they come out until the cabinet is ready to mate. What can I do to fix this? Googling it some people are saying to use a JST to RCA connector?

that's because you have the jamma loom. not the jvs/jamma loom ( aka 001 loom )

you CAN add stereo to it, piece of cake, just gotta make sure you NEVER have a jamma board hooked up while a RCA input is active.

you regs wanna pm me your "must cover" bullet points ? this way I don't space off anything.

I would put it on the AO wiki , I usually put my tech stuff on there... yes / no ?

Speaking as a blast noob who is still asking questions all the time, that would be awesome.

And with that quick question, would running my dreamcast through the VGA and stereo in hurt anything since a board wouldnt be attached to the JAMMA slot?

EDIT: Going by this, sounds like I would be ok, just want to play something lol

EDIT 2: Tried hooking it up, no sound and the monitor was split in two, with a vertical black bar down the middle.

Sounds like you weren't in 31khz mode. Do you have a manual ms-2930 chassis or automatic ms-2931?
The manual has dips on the remote board as seen (here on the top), toggle them while the machine is off according to the specified settings which should be on a sticker in the control panel enclosure:

Yeah I have dips schematic in the cp, but there are no dips, so I am guessing it's auto.

Edit: I lied!! I do have DIPS, they are so high up under the metal lip i couldnt see them until i was looking from below lol.

I'll be looking forward to reading the getting started guide when I have the chance. In the meantime, a quick question:

I plugged in a jamma game last night to test out the 15khz. It doesn't sync in with just the 15 dip switch set in. It runs with the the 15 and 24 dip switch set, although fairly bright and the speakers hum.

So I'm guessing the 24 mode activates an audio channel that doesn't exist in the jamma game (Silkworm). Where should I head to next?

Also, my brightness pot is missing or I have to stick some sort of tool in the brightness knob to attempt to move it. I haven't touched it.

Thanks.

Yes, a small screwdriver. And be very careful when you do so! Several times I've bumped it a little hard and the monitor did it's safety-auto-shut-off thing and the screen when black! Thought I'd broken something for a minute, had to power off for a minute and it was fine again.

video is independent from audio. look at your 001 loom, there is an "inline audio selector", 6pin yellow amp connectors. one is for mono/jamma, the other is for jvs/stereo. disconnect the stereo on and connect the mono one. Makes sure to turn down the volume on your cab before you it on, since jamma boards also has an amp built-in.

Yea I totally didn't do that when I finally got the cab back to spec and booted a game. Hit the credit button and got blown out :lolz:

Got my Blast panel built tonight. Unfortunately when I was taking one of the mounting plate that came on one of my Sanwa sticks the screw stripped ugh. Speaking of which does anyone know the screw size to mount to the back of the panel? Neither my stick or blank panel came with any hehe.

Nice looking panel! Good work. What are the blue buttons going to be wired for? MVS select?

Planning on using the top row for when I have the MVS in, which will probably be the majority of the time =)

Ah! Makes sense to have four in a row like that. It's sort of weird having MVS 'D' on second row low kick when you're used to the AES stick.

Ok so I got my MVS 2 slot board hooked up using the Jammaboards MVS to Jamma adapter. So far so good, right now I am running mono sound. I want to move over to stereo but I dont think I have the right connection. According to the instructions I should use that white jumper on the jamma board below

So I bought the optional J2 cable for Stereo that looks like this (apparently, didnt see a pic before hand heh)

But the stereo plug (also the mono plug) is a block connector like below or RCAs ( but I doubt thats the right option)

So do I just need to get something to convert from the individual connections to a block connector?

So I just got a blast IO to cps2 kick harness (Thanks Lemony!) in the mail today. Hooked it up and my high kicks are being registered as low kicks. The low and medium kick buttons for both players aren't being registered.

Any ideas on why that may happen? I know the buttons are good and I tested two cps2 boards with it. The connector for the IO board snapped into place like it should and I verified it's in the right orientation.

The CP wiring has the right harness and appears correct. Is there something stupid I may be missing here?

grendelrt do you have the 001 loom with RCA's? The other end of the rcas should plug into the speaker molex in place of the jamma speaker plug. If so, you'll need to figure out the pinout of the molex or just wire that plug you got to some female RCAs so that your MVS/JAMMA converter plugs into the RCA's on your loom.

You're probably going to need to check the pinout of your extra wire harness in the CP itself.
