Usually monitors rotate counterclockwise, as is the case with Blast City. I highly recommend laying it on it's back, unless you injected a can of spinach prior.

Shit son, I rotate monitors ONE ARMED

Egret 2??

Best tip I have for rotating the Blast monitor is to get a friend to help...they're heavy and leave very little room for your fingers. Second best tip I have is to loosen up the lower monitor mounting stud screws...having a little slop makes it easier to line up with the holes in the monitor bracket...

Those are good tips. And as mentioned before, its easier to lay them on their back. Wish I could say the same for Net City. Now those have to be power lifted. Anyone that isn't 15 years old or have spaghetti arms should be able to manage it by themselves though. :lolz:

I rotated my net city monitor myself, I wasn't happy about it but it's not the worst thing in the world. Laying the cab down definitely would have made it easier, but that's not really an option with the net cities.

My blast monitor is staying yoko... Maybe in a year or two when I get a house I'll grab another blast for tate goodness, but that's pretty far down the priority list right now.

I did it standing up, because I was like, there's no way it's that heavy. It isn't the weight, it's the placement of EVERYTHING. Maybe they did it that way, so once you get it rotated, you feel an immediate, suddenly-large amount of satisfaction.

Mine also rotated clockwise, putting the connector plate at the bottom of the display. [Like in the bass city manual.] The kick harness I had inside of mine didn't seem to match up to any of the ones I had seen before, so with a no-brain answer from mr. WindyGaming I hooked up a board, and just plucked around in the test menu to figure it out. Two hours later I was enjoying that true arcade-at-home experience.

Lining up those bolts can be a bitch, and as mentions, loosening the cage just a tad makes a world of difference. In comparison the Super Neo 29 is a cake walk because the cage just rests against against the frame of the cab (which happens to be a cab that rotates to vert clockwise).

i suppose the blast can rotate either way now that you mention it, but if you mean you rotated clockwise into vert, than the jamma monitor and d-sub would be on the top pointing up.

Also, I'm a wimp apparently.

I must be too?! It must be way easier if the cabs on it's back...I left mine standing up when we rotated mine, I was all paranoid about scratching the new paint job if I laid it down. The bolt studs weren't lining up and I swear we had like no place for our fingers once the monitor was going back into the cab in the vertical position.

I considered whether to try and take the monitor out of my Blast when it arrives and I have to get it up to the third story... Hopefully loading it up on my dolly will be enough.

I am the undisputed cab moving champ of neo-geo.com.

So two months after getting my Blast up and running, two things happened today.

1) Finally got a 001 loom, and was able to get equal sound out of both of my speakers! Looks like it is the mono side of the amp is what's goofy since the stereo output is working just fine.

2) Monitor has gone blank again. :( I was playing Border Down, went to netboot another game, and when the Naomi went to reboot itself the screen went dark and never came back on.

*sigh* not looking forward to pulling the monitor out and trying to troubleshoot it again...

I almost suspect this might be an issue of the blast monitor doing it's auto-shutoff safety thing. I know for running certain signals into the D-SUB you need a sync stabilizer, might be worth looking into.

How is your NAOMI hooked to the monitor? Dsub? or Jamma harness via the capcom IO? If you're using the Capcom IO make sure the sync switch is set to H/V (I know it sounds backwards, but it's selecting sync input not output, it always outputs composite sync on the jamma harness).

Try changing your naomi from 15 to 31 khz or vice versa and back (DIP 1 on/off). It might "wake up" the monitor. I had to do this once on my net city tri-sync after I sent it a fucked up sync signal; running it in 15 then 31 again "fixed" the issue. Always change that DIP with the system OFF. then reboot it with the new DIP setting.

I was able to get my blast to happily take 31khz over the jamma and not d-sub with a capcom IO for what it's worth.

Good luck.

If this is the case, I have an exatron sync booster with your name on it :D

I can come out and take a look at it, if you want.

The Naomi was hooked up via d-sub when it happened. I just tried flipping the switch between 15k/31k, and still nothing. I also tried connecting other boards (atomiswave in both 15k and 31k, Progear) and still no picture.

The monitor is a Nanao MS2931 if that gives anyone any specific ideas on what to try/test.

That would be awesome if you can fit me into your schedule. Still have my number?

The Nanao MS-2931 are notorious for being unreliable, especially the ones made between 1996-1999. Take it from me, I have had several die on me.
But there are a couple of people in the USA that can fix them nowadays.
