Check this out!

Believe me, I've seen this before! I've got an email out to them a few days back to check pricing and minium order quanity. I was hoping somebody knew the number off the tweeter as well...reeeeeally dont wanna pull my cab apart to check and have it disassembled for a few weeks while the speakers ship if I can avoid it. Anywhos, depending on what they send back...if there is a minium order quanity, I may pick a bunch up if people would rather just swap speakers instead of the whole expensive unit...

I'd be interested in picking up a set to fix my Blast's speakers. Keep us updated.

Just to let you know, I contacted Sega of America parts division and they told me they wouldn't sell to me directly and when I asked for resellers I was ignored. I'd really like some replacement drivers for mine.

My original speakers still seem to be in good shape... Still I might like to have a pair of new ones for future backup/replacement.

Maybe we could get enough interest together for a group buy from Sega? Did they mention a minimum order amount to you Panda?

No, she said "we don't sell, see one of our resellers." End of contact.

I saw your post awhile back when you were working on yours, I figured you had them back in your cab haha. I'll check back and see if you come up with a part number for the tweeters and hopefully I can get a prices for them...

I got a reply for the Blast speakers today. The speakers cost $10 a piece...as I recall 2 new speaker sets from Sega were $120 I think. If the tweeters come back at a price close to that...then the total cost would be $60 + shipping. The freight quote was between $80-$120...so we'd need to split that a bunch of ways to make this happen...plus state side shipping once they make it over here.

Looking at the above comments it looks like there's intrest for around 26 speakers. I'll check on the tweeters when codecrank posts up what he finds out.

Wan't following this speaker situation until now. Are those prices for just the tweeter replacements or for the whole blast speaker (including enclosure)? New/Used?

$10 ea, but $60+shipping for a pair, sorry I'm not quite follow... probably lack of sleep.

Depending on what I'm actually looking at, I may be interested in a set of 4 (X2 pairs).

Yep, $10 a speaker...Codecrank is going to check on a part number for the tweeters tonight as well. The shipping is the problem though, I was quoted between $80-$120 for shipping on the 4 speakers. The "toptone" site link is at the top of the page.

$10 is the price for each of the speakers inside the enclosure, minus the tweeter, no price on that yet...

The $60 + shipping was an estimate, I assume the tweeters will be around $10 also. Inside each enclosure is 2 speakers plus 1 tweeter for a total of 6 between the 2 enclosures. 6 speakers at around $10 is where the $60 + shipping came from...hopefully we can get the shipping cost way down if enough people need speakers...

ok, this was a lot fun... I scrapped a tweeter AND a speaker box in the process :blow_top: I've never seen something so tricky to dismantle !

the tweeter is held in place not only by a screw ,

First the WRONG way to remove it lol

I thought there was a latch I just needed to undo, but as you can see I just f'd up the plastic, then eventually tore a hole through the tweeter... :oh_no:

anyways, here it is... google comes up with nothing when looking up the part #,but the shielding and part # font is just like the other ones, so they might be Toptone too.

OK... so the CORRECT way to remove it now...

1) take the screw holding the shield
3) push here, notice the tiny lip holding the speaker in the hole

3) pull the speaker up why a small pry tool.

ahcmetal, I took the speaker apart, the cone is durable teflon , no much can go wrong here, if yours is not making any sound. maybe try replacing the inline capacitor acting as a high pass filter.

Oh boy, bad news about scrapping the tweeter:/ Thanks for the info! I didn't think the tweeters would have as many issuse as the speakers, but figured if we could find them too it'd be nice. I'll check around and see if anything comes up...

Okay, here's the update...not great news either. The tweeter is a TopTone product, however they said it was a very old part and they don't have any stock of it left anymore, they would also need an order of 1,000 units in order to have more produced. Same story for the speakers as well, they said there is very little demand for them at this point and only have 16 units left instock and would need to sell 1,000 units to have more of them made.

Shipping for the 16 speakers was quoted to me at $120 plus $160 for the remaining speakers is a total of $280. So it works out to basically $17.50 per speaker + shipping to your door.

$17.50 x 4 = $70 + $15 shipping (estimate) = $85 to replace all your Blast City speakers minus the tweeters...
