So, these showed up at my house yesterday (replacement speakers). Had to put them in last night. Night and day. The ones I bought are in perfect condition. Thanks Lemony for pointing them out. I only had to cut up some wires because these used a different molex connector. They sound great now (and LOUD!!!!). I could use a bit more bass. I might look into putting a small sub inside of the cab. We'll see. The old speakers were really bad (the foam that attached the speaker cone to the metal casing was all rotted away).

Good to hear that they worked!

Great news Jack! Nice to see blast owners looking our for each other. Sounds like Salvio also needs some speaker replacements, just throwing that out there in case another pair turn up.

Justomania, you are in Springfield MA huh? You know about the arcade in Hadley opening soon?

Yeah, we figured that out while fine-tuning the picture on his blast. I'll keep an eye out.

Hey guys,

I was just looking at this thread and realized that it had hit over 2000 replies! It got me thinking about why people post here, and how it could be made better. What does everyone think of this being organized into a forum instead of a thread? I ask because I know a lot of people post here, or in the tech support forum, asking questions that other people have already had resolved somewhere in the 80+ pages of posts in this thread. Would it be better to have a tech thread, with breakdowns for problems that people have commonly(or not so commonly) faced? A thread to show off your new art work and CP layouts? Restorations? The welcome page for new blast city owners?

Just an idea guys, what do you think?

oh if we wouldn't be so lazy and go document the stuff of the OA wiki after we figure it out, this thread wouldn't be so heavy lol

I have so much I need to put on there... but I do add stuff every once in a while.

ugh, that's f'n weak. She sold me tons of shit already....

Same problem, I emailed her last week about some Net City castors, but got an auto reply saying she was out of town. I called them up and got directed to her number two guy, this putz had no idea what a Sega "Net City" was, wasn't familiar with the term candy cab, insisted I had a "knock off bootleg cabinet" that wasn't from Sega...then back peddled and vaguely recalled the name "Blast Cabinet" and said that must actually be what I have. Then he asked if I lived on the west coast because that's where a lot of these "knock off" cabinets are and that they don't sell parts for those. Yikes.

Angela did email me back a few days later and said that they have never stocked any parts like that...seemed odd since every Universal/Net City/NNC has exactly 4 of them screwed directly to the bottom of the cabinet... Not very impressed with these guys... Glad you got your speakers though, I think I'll take mine apart and try replacing just the speakers with something similar...

Whenever I called Sega for parts, as they used to be like 10 minutes from my apt. You gotta give them part numbers otherwise they have no damn clue what you are talking about. Granted part #'s are different in the Japan manuals to the US manuals. If you can give them a part number they have a better chance. Also when dealing with a blast city in the US you gotta call it a bass fishing cab.

Hey guys, I recently picked up a Blast City as part of the group buy for the East Coast. Having a "Blast" with it but have a maybe dumb question. Is it dangerous to power on the machine without a pcb plugged into jamma? (If i'm playing Dreamcast for example). I have a pad hack on the way which will be plugged in but should I keep another pcb plugged in the meantime?

Thanks,
Dave

I've used blast city cabs for years with no loads on the jamma edge. mame, pad hacks. etc. PSUs still work like champs.

But, it can't hurt to place a dummy load.
