I've learned that extra parts (especially monitor chassis) are always good.

Scored a couple MS2930's with remote boards, all cables etc off Yahoo Auctions Japan. I don't want the first one to die but hey best to be prepared.

BLAST DUMP INCOMING!

Excuse the double post here..

So I felt pretty keen on firing the old Blast up this morning and the Hyper Neo came to mind... I hadn't even fired it up in my blast yet..

Please excuse the lack of monitor tweaking, I was too lazy to fine tune the image size.

I'm having a heck of a time finding an empty 2L12B panel for Seimitsu sticks, either blank without CPO or with a Blast City CPO. I've got an Astro City panel in it right now but it's rusty and just not very nice looking. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Seimitsu doesn't produce 2L12B with blast city overlays

some options...

- get one from starcab http://www.starcab.net/product_info.php?cPath=219_217&products_id=794 , they'll include a blast city overlay for a fee.
- get a sanwa panel from akihabarashop, then use ls-33 sticks with correct mounting plates.
- strip the overlay, sand off the rust, use metal primer, apply a 25$ overlay from gameongrafx.

I think you mean LS-56/58 (which uses the same pcb as the LS-33). The 33 has a short shaft, you'd basically end up with a balltop for the entire stick due to the fact that you'd already be losing some length by using a seimitsu on the sanwa plate. Even using a LS-56/58 it's going to be a bit shorter than a JLF, I actually like the reduced shaft length.

Hi
I've recently bought a Blast City cab (with manual switching monitor). I want to plug in my xbox360 and so I have hacked an xbox360 fight pad and wired this to a jamma fingerboard and intended to plug this in to the jamma harness for controls (video via VGA and audi via stereo cables). But I've been informed that the PSU can be damaged if there is no load i.e. no jamma board plugged in. Is there a way around this?
Thanks
Dan

ooops , yes you're right. I always mix 'em up... I have it mounted as such , I had to cut the corner of the plate to accommodate button 1 on my L14B panel. I'll post a pic of my actual panel later .

You could short Ground and +5v together with a 5 or 10 watts 10ohm resistor, to create a dummy load.

Thanks, is this the only option regarding consoles in the cab, I'm just a bit wary of doing this and also wondering if when I want to run jamma pcbs would that be affected by the resistor? Is it possible to just leave a jamma pcb plugged in when running the xbox and wire the hacked xbox360 controls directly to the stick and buttons rather than through the jamma harness? Sound would come from the RCA cables and video via VGA.

I run my main blast 99% of the time with no load on the jamma or JVS power outputs, and have done so for over 2 years. I use a fingerboard with control pins attached to an i-pac.

This. I think whomever told you that (that the PSU would be blown) is spinning tall tails.

This is my Blast being resurrected from original (Nanao 2930) monitor failure.

Yes that is a 29/27" 24khz (Hitachi tube/Wells Gardner P719 neck board + K7500 chassis) monitor.
I sourced it locally (thank you Boston Craig's) from a broken Golden Tee (reference below) price 50$. :D

golden-tee.jpg

I removed everything (tube/neck board+chassis) and "back mounted" it (thanks 300wins) inside the Sega frame.
The original cab wiring was then altered/spliced for the new/different (r/g/b/ground/h+v/AC) connectors.
Purists will be cursing my name +2, while inside I grew tired of... and permanently removed the PCB door kill switch.

I'm trying to show the small gap between the bezel and the cab with my finger catching on the edge.
It is very minor, but unsolvable dew to the curve of the tube being (Hitachi vs. Toshiba) different.

Not only a better price, but this new tube has zero burn with very vivid colors and deep black.
My old tube had ghostly images of SF2 life bars etched in it mixed with very washed out dull overall color. :D
The drawback however, the new chassis is 24khz (medium rez) only... No fat 15khz scan lines. :(

Before the Craig's 50$ deal I was considering these options...

1) No Brand Name? 29" CGA replacement Monitor = 350$ + (god only knows how much) shipping

2) Rodotron 666B Chassis replacement for my washed out tube = (about) 260$ shipped

for those who don't know, if you have JLFs with square gates, you can turn the gate 90' and you'll have a 4 way stick. great for those old games !

I haven't posted in this club thread yet as I've been tweaking my newly acquired blast the last couple of weeks and I think I have it as dialed in as it's going to be.

That being said, it's nice to see some of the families playing your Basts guys. I know the feeling now.

UwcqjXD.jpg

I dunno what it is, but both my wife and kids love playing it quite a bit more than my Big Red 6-slot. I guess it should be known now as the Big Redheaded step-child now.

Anyways, great excuse to get my 2nd candy I guess... I have to wait in line to play my own cab.

Thanks again to the peeps here that have taken care of me getting hooked up with the stuffs ... 300, Moogz, Lemonballs... & Mikhail for the PCB support.

Teddy KGB - Glad the cab went to a good home. Hopefully you will get to enjoy it as much as the rest of your family. :D
