Did you get this one from DreamTR in Tenn (I think)? If so i heard its missing the Sega I/O board. I actually found one if you are in need.

No, mine was given to me by a friend who got it from the Boys & Girls club of New Orleans.

Best I can tell it was originally in an arcade in Hong Kong, I have a sticker on the bezel from the HK distributor there. After that I believe it spent some time on a Star Cruise line because I found some of their tokens inside the cab.

How it got from an Asian cruise line to New Orleans though is a mystery.

I managed to get the monitor on today, I have some ghosting in the top left corner of my Apple menu icon, I assume this is just because I haven't fine tuned the focus on the monitor but I could be wrong there.

Next up is working on re-wiring everything. I having all my wiring harnesses coming, as much as I hate to think it, MAME is the easier choice but I would much rather prefer the satisfaction of having a complete working JAMMA/JVS cab.

Believe it or not, i have an extra main harness for the Blast. I bought it "just in case". Let me know if you need any what goes where type questions answered. I'll give you what ever help i can.

I just might be getting a set of wheels. A guy is dropping off a Blast shell for me in the next two weeks. Almost everything is gone off of it, but i'd bet the wheels are still on. I was thinking about making some sort of project out of it.

Locks not so much. I had to drill all of mine out and i wound getting a completely mismatched set from Highway Arcade.

Regarding MAME, I have been seriously considering it just due to it being so much easier to install and more organized than having stacks of boards and carts laying around.

IF (huge if) I go that route, I will at least remain ethical and buy the games I really like. Hell I have bought all 5 Samurai Shodowns on MVS and AES as well as for the Wii at one point or another, sometimes more than 1 of the same.

The LL or....yeah, probably the mame thing right? I know it sacrilege, but I'm a recovering collector/hoarder and it was cluttering up my life and the life of my wife and kids. My eyes, ears, and fingers can hardly tell the difference with emus. Plus it a hell of alot better on my wallet.

The thing with mame is you are gonna have a heck of a time getting the games to look perfect. Actually, it is darned near impossible. I've been dinking with ArcadePerfect running through an ArcadeVGA card and some of the simpler games like Pac-Man look pretty good at 15khz but a lot of games have screen tear and I cannot stop it. Sometimes checking 'sync to monitor refresh' will work, but a lot of times, it will chop the sound up. Because of the huge monitor, you'll have to guess at the correct resolutions to run at too. I'm also wondering if all this flipping between resolutions is quickly killing my monitor.

I tried every combination of everything. Probably has something to do with the arcadeVGA card running at a true 15kHZ resolution not playing well with the monitor. Things can be tweaked some, but the perfectionist in me is kicking my ass right now. Most people wouldn't even notice the sync issues.

I just have to accept the fact that it is MAME and will always be an imitation of the real deal. Another reason I love the Blast City cabinet - I'm not stuck with just MAME. I have a plethora of other gaming options/systems to choose from.

Tonight I hooked my laptop back up to the cab to run MAME and get a few impressions of the color depth. While not as deep as my laptop display, I think with a little more fine tuning it will get closer.

These pictures do not do it justice but my cell was the only camera I had with me.

I'll join. I recently took the CP off, cleaned all the grime out of the inside & outside, and put my new controls on. Pics:


I still see rust between the CP graphics and plastic surround. The metal is slightly visible there w/ a little rust. What have you all done about this? I'm thinking about taking a sharpie to the exposed metal, but it might look weird with a black line.

You could try some white enamel paint, which is what I used, maybe even carefully sand the rusted edge first. The marker would probably make it look worse.

Yes, I'd try sanding it with very fine sandpaper, or even a scotchbright pad. Also, if you add a little oil (WD40 or similar) it helps to get rid of the rust color.

White enamel paint sounds good. I sanded the rust off the back, but not the top edge there, didn't want to scuff up the graphics. Maybe I'll try very carefully.
