Yes, no alcohol involved in this. Who's dumb ass idea was it at Sega to have these bolts NOT welded, but have 2 bolts turning the same way on both side? Urggg, so annoying.

or at least carriage bolts...

I may (don't hold breath) have these in a pile of leftovers in my garage - will look when home; Jim feel welcome to ping me a reminder if I don't post up by nightfall.

if you have any CP screws (the ones that bolt the surround to the blast city body itself), lemme know. I've broken three off :(

so the speakers in my cab are toast, has anyone found drop-in replacements?
I'd like to get my hands on some soon; while i've got my cab in pieces.
I found the datasheet for the two main speakers here:
http://www.toptone.co.jp/pdf/F17E4U01-1.pdf

or, does anyone know much about speakers? what are the important stats to match for replacements? i know i need to match the ohms, but is there anything wrong with having the new speakers have a higher wattage rating?

A couple blasts were sold recently with those harmon cardon soundsticks dropped in. Not certain they were wired up, but it might be an option worth looking into. Who bought those, Ash Burton and RepX?

Higher wattage rating won't hurt. If anything, go higher than lower. Just means they can handle more power. And like you said, match the impedance (ohms)

That is what you are looking for. Obviously, that is way too expensive, but have patience. Just keep searching ebay for "sega speakers" and eventually (a few months to a year) you *should* find some. A pair just sold about two weeks ago for $40. I got a pair about a year ago. I paid about $80. Trust me, the original speakers are amazing *if* you get ones in good condition. Definitely worth the effort. All I had to do was change the molex connector at the end of the wires. Easy.

Probably Beaglepuss, unless I'm making the whole thing up. If putting these in a blast is relatively easy and effective, well someone should do it and make a guild.

I've only ever had CMVS systems.

What MVS board and cables should I be getting to hook up to a Blast? I'm not concerned with the number of slots, but I would like the option of a memory card and stereo audio.

MV-1?

I run an MV1-AX in my blast. It's super small and easy to throw in there. No memory card support though. The problem with a multi slot setup would be that you'd need to figure something out for a cart select button.

I did a 2 slot board with a line out adapter to the Blast stereo plugs. I made a little wooden shelf and put it on top of the PSU. I can fit a Naomi, Naomi PSU, Capcom IO, and my MVS 2 slot all in there right now. Its a little of a hassle getting the two slot out but its worked really well. Built in stereo and memory card reader and multislot was what made my decision.

If you do multislot you will need a MVS to Jamma adapter anyways, the one from Jammaboards remaps the select button to A so nothing additional is needed.

Is the audio adapter easy to make or source somewhere?

20 bucks from Walmart :)

Heres a pic with my little shelf I made, audio adapter on left with double sided tape, jamma boards adapter on the right. I added PCB feat to the jamma adpater later on so it doesnt budge when I take off the harness.

I didn't buy those cabs that had the Harmon Kardon speakers in them... but I know how they were mounted. They were glued in placed. As for how it was wired, I don't know. But gluing them in place makes me shake my head.

Nice setup grendelrt! I hadn't considered putting a board over the power supply, but that's a fantastic idea for a 2 slot MVS board, or even making a Naomi setup as clean as possible. Good stuff :)

Thanks! It was made out of necessity, I got the 2 slot in the mail and had underestimated the size of the board haha. The naomi setup I have now is vertical on the side with the PSU in front hooked into the Blast IO and the Capcom IO in the space between the Naomi and PSU. Once I find a Naomi Net Dimm I will work on cleaning it up so everything is nice and tidy , keeping both setups in all the time.

I'm actually about to get a 2 slot to throw in my blast. Would I only need the two adapters to get it to work with a 001 loom? Which audio adapter and jamma adapter did you use? Is the only purpose of the jamma adapter to be able to switch carts? I'm thinking I could just install a small switch under the CP or inside somewhere.

You need the jamma adapter to have the MVS not blow your audio amp. The pinout is slightly different for MVS to accommodate stereo sound and the game select button.

Okay gotcha. As for the stereo adapter, what would I need to get it to properly hook into the RCA on the 001 loom?
