Ninja Scroll simply didn't interest me. Friends speak highly of it and I say "Good to know." Ranma's funny. No shame.

Nah, you'd probably be amused. Tora likes to speak like Shampoo. I find it obnoxious, but hey, you like Ranma. heh heh heh.

Having been weened on the teet of Samurai Spirits, I felt endeared to the entire product of Ninja Scroll (subbed, not dubbed). Everything that I had envisioned of the samurai universe was there, encluding a guy with a lobster gun on his arm, and a slimy pervert with gen-an's claw.

Calm Down B man! I agree! You're not tha only one. I play it my friend Rick's place whenever I can. I'd buy a NES but I would have it just for that game.

For the others, it's a kick ass game. You just keep playing and playing and playing. It's pure crack for your NES.

Ranma eh? Well I've only seen an episode or two but it just didn't seem for me.

I hated akira, just hated it. It's story sucked.

Ghost in the Shell - wierdest ending and there's no sequel, and the story was wierd, but it was better than akira.

Ninja Scroll - Bliss, pure bliss. The third one was pretty wierd with like no jubei and all those monsters and the "girl". i hope they make another one to keep the story going.

Currently I'm watching Inyuyasha as the fansubs are released (still not done in Japan yet!), but Dan, if you liked Ranma, you really should watch Kenshin, subbed. The OVA is dark and evil and bloody as all hell (aka. awesome!), but the series is much different. It is one of the first ones that I've seen that can mix love, comedy, and a whole hell of a lot of bloody action and do it extremely well. Check it out!

Then again I like DBZ (the real subbed version, the dubbed US stuff makes me sick!), so you might not want to listen to me.

Peace

Underrated games:
The entire Ninja Gaiden series -- this was to the NES what Final Fantasy is to the Playstation.

Star Control 2 for the PC -- one of the greatest games ever made
Edit: if you can get this to run with sound on a modern system then you are a PC god

Samurai 64 1 and 2 -- better than any Tekken on any day of the week

---

Now some 2 cents or so on the Anime:
Akira -- changed the direction of the genre, not as good as what came later but made everything else possible
Ninja Scroll -- what the Samurai Spirits anime should have been
Kenshin -- haven't seen, not enough moolah for a zillion DVD's, boxed set anyone?

Personal favorites: Macross Plus (dubbed) and Crest of the Stars (subbed)

How can you not like Akira!?!?! HOW CAN YOU!! AKIRA IS..JUST...AMAZING. I get how the plot was a bit baffling, but the animation is just awesome. You should read the manga; it's a whole lot better than the movie.

Nice.

Maybe you forgot to mention it, but you can now get Fallout 1&2 for a measly $10 (Interplay re-released it in the "dual-jewel" case). If you have a PC that works, and $10, and any interest at all in RPGs, you have no excuse not to get Fallout. It's a true classic, and since it came out years ago, you don't need a high-end PC at all to run it. Get it now.

Also, if you're looking for a new Fallout desktop wallpaper or chat icon, go here:

First, I'll say this.

I hated Akira when I first saw it. Didn't understand it either.

When I saw the DVD though, things were different.

Here's my hotlist:

River City Ransom (How could u forget?)
Super Dodge Ball
Golgo 13: The Mafat Conspiracy
Clash at Demonhead
Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles (DC version only)
Time Killers (Genesis and Arcade)
Combatribes
Wild Guns
Sports Jam (Good party game, and u don't have to like sports to like it)
League Bowling
Cookie and Cream
Crue Ball
Puzzle Fighter
The Dragon Warrior series
Valkary Profile
Necronomicon Pinball
Road Avenger

I agree totally with Sewer Shark. What an awesome game. Too bad I lost my copy

You place traps all over the level and try to kill your opponant (Puzzle).

Sounds like a partial description of Spy vs Spy on NES and GB, another overlooked game.
That should do it for now.

Well let me say that I like Akira the anime but the manga makes much more sense.
Also for anime I love the Beserk series. The manga is also great (too bad it's only in Japanese) And yes the game Sword of the Berserk is a great DC game.
I also have the entire Kenshin series along w/ the ova and the movie and the specials etc. I got it all for 50 bux on 10 vhs tapes.

As for my list of underated games well here goes.

1. Punchout (NES)
2. Super Punchout (SNES)
3. Shadowrun (SNES) This was a great rpg with a very different battle system.
4. King Arthur's World (SNES) There was so much strategy in this game. I still play once in a while.
5. Donkey Kong 3 (the one where Mario has the bug spray. That shit is fun! Did it come out for any system like Atari 2600 or NES?)
6. The Ninja Gaiden series. Like someone before me said. Just awesome. I love Castlevania and this was the Ninja version.

Return Fire--multiplatform (pure CTF mayhem)
Mass Destruction--multiplatform (all out insane)
JAWS--for NES (collecting conch shells was never so much fun )
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones-TG 16--upside levels? Mechs? Lightsaber things? Instant classic ;P
Hot Shots Golf--PlayStation--mini golf.. Nuff said.
and the Mortal Kombat series (notably Mortal Kombat Trilogy--I've seen it TRASHED on videogamereviews.com)... Hands down my favorite fighting series... Even over KoF/FF... I guess it's like comparing apples to oranges though. But Sub Zero just owns.

Just a sidenote Donkey Kong 3 stars Stanley the Bugman and not Mario.

Underrated games:

1.Suikoden 2-This game destroys any PSX FF. Play part one and becomes even more cool. Part 3 is the reason I will own a PS2.

2.Contra Hard Corps-This game doesn't get enough props for being the 2nd if not the best Contra game of all time.

3.Panzer Dragoon Saga-This game is Shenmue's granddaddy. Short but oh so sweet, a powerful emotion experience.

4.KOF'98-Sure it gets some props, but some people just don't know about arguably the best 2D fighter ever.

5.Shining Force 3-Don't praise FF Tactics and forget the innovators. Shining Force 3 is crown of the "Shining" games.

Tetris Attack

The best puzzle game ever invented.period.

Put in the code for the highest difficulty and have fun with your brain not being able to keep up with the action, but some how end up with the win.
