When I first heard the Black Belt soundtrack during a gaming afternoon with a friend of mine, I was 100% convinced that the boss fight theme of the game was exactly the same as The Last Blade's Juzoh stage theme.
After re-listening carefully though, they're clearly not the same: not only is the tempo different, but also the specific melody is altered.
However, they're still very similar in terms of harmony, so I can't shake the feeling that the boss fight theme of Black Belt somehow influenced Juzoh's stage theme on the Last Blade's soundtrack.
Black Belt boss-fight soundtrack:
The Last Blade Juzoh's Stage soundtrack (scroll to 2:15):
What do you think?
Do you hear the same similarity here, or am I hearing ghosts and is it just coincidence?
More importantly: if it is NOT coincidence, could there be a link between the 2 games in terms of staff (programmers/composers)?
