It's very possible the game could have been damaged during shipping.

I always clean my MVS games before playing them, because I don't want to dirty the connectors on the system, but usually only the cart connectors unless the shell desperately needs it. I always only use distilled water for anywhere on the carts.

Then again this is one of those Donald Rumsfeld moments.

There's another way to phrase that and that is that the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. It is basically saying the same thing in a different way. Simply because you do not have evidence that something does exist does not mean that you have evidence that it doesn't exist."

Wow dude that is like SO deep.

I agree that is very possible, however highly unlikely.

I see in your auction you offer shipping insurance, did he purchase any coverage?

If he did then he can submit a claim with the post office. If you do so you have to submit the item in the original shipped packaging AND the weight of the package must be the same as when it was shipped. I think you can file within 60 days or something.

I think from this point on, we are beating a dead horse.

Quoted from Scott's PM last night:

I'm done with this thread.

So when you cleaned it you used a wet cloth on a game shell with vents? And before you tested it you never checked to make sure there was no water inside that can possibly fry the game?

I know I'm jumping in here late, but this is exactly what I was thinking as I read the post where Scott said he cleaned it with water. Never clean games with plain water. There's always a risk of getting water on the chips and screwing it up. I always use Isopropyl Alcohol.

It just looks a little fishy. The cart worked fine when he had it, he ships it to you, and now it doesn't work. I realize things happen in shipping, but I doubt it. I'm still not clear on why you cleaned the cart. If it's not working (so basically worthless) why did you clean it up? It would in no way enhance the value of a broken board in any way. Plus, he's not calling you a liar or a cheat, he's just trying to cover his ass from scammers, again not calling you one. It just is a little fishy, that's all he's saying and I agree.

Sounds like what Japhei did to me on ebay... which, by the way, anyone notice the stuff this bill guy sells is the exact same stuff that japhei sells? He even sells GCN cables.... I mean, what are the chances the exact same stuff gets sold after he gets kicked off his latest account, arcadegod?

What do you want him to say? That the cart was 100% working when it got to him? Theres no proof either way, other then one word against another. Honestly, find a comprimise of some sort, neither of you his totally right on this one.

Sorry, but

Didn't anyone else notice those 2 rows of small holes on either side...
Wiping them with a wet cloth could have let some water in them which would then end up inside and not dry up for a bit.

Just a thought.

I posted this on the sega naomi forums as well when the cables were brought up. I saw they were selling for about $100 each 2 months ago or so now on ebay. One of my suppliers in Asia has them for a really good price, so I bought a large lot of them, which thankfully is just about all sold. I'm kicking myself now as I'm having a hard time selling them for $45 each :(

By your reasoning, is everybody that sells GCN component cables on ebay associated with Japhei? I mean think what you want, but I am a solo opperation here importing and selling japanese video games.

And just an FYI, ZeroGunner2 who is speculated to be working with Japhei is still very active on ebay.

So bill, what ties if any do you have to ZerroGunner and/or Japhei?

I think you're going a little overboard here, Spike. Bill has been on n-g.com for one and-a-half years and has almost 60 perfect transactions. His only two negs on ebay are from members that are no longer registered, which tells me that they were most likely the guilty party. Just because he sells some GCN Component cables and has 1 bad transaction you're going to lump him in the same category as Japhei?

I as well know Bill pretty well and have done transactions with him. He is in no way affiliated with Japhie that is just laughable.

Here is the thing situations like this happen and they suck. I honestly feel bad for Scott expecially if he is on the up and up here. I know the feeling, how can cleaning hurt a cart but the thing is cleaning with any water but it can. Expecially if it could have gotten into the breathing vents on the cart and got traped and could not evaperate will short a cart.

I also clean my carts but I dry clean with an easer and que tip carts from say yaton. Then I test them and then I wet clean. Bill stated in the auction that there is no warrenty so what if he extened a refund if the cart came back and looks altered even if just cleaned this leaves a variable that was not there before.

zerogunner IS working with Japhei. That's not just "speculated," it's true. Her post history here is LOL worthy, if anyone is looking for a :tickled: moment.

Just wanted to mention that, now back to the regular show.

More Rumsfeld quotes are in order, I think.

Just wanted to say that I took great care to make sure no water got into any vents...I basically just cleaned up the lables. Any components I clean, I use electronics cleaner (though I didn't mess with these). Anyhow like a few people have already stated, its just beating a dead horse and there's no proof either way. If it was damaged in shipping, I don't know, but I do know that I did nothing to kill it. Personally, I have nothing against bill and I'm sorry the deal turned out shitty...if I seemed to fly off the handle initially its because some people were suggesting that the carts/innards were switched, or that I knowingly damaged the game, which is in no way the case. Sure I'm still a little upset, but there's clearly nothing I can do about the situation. Anyway thats all I wanted to say, and I hope nobody thinks I'm some kind of bad trader because of this deal. Thanks.

I got the cart from one of my suppliers in Asia (Hong Kong to be specific). It was from a wholeseller, not an ebay auction or forums deal.

@Scott: Just and FYI, I shipped your goods back today via priority mail. Please drop me a line to confirm you recieved them.

Thanks,
Bill
