King of the Hill cast list is out.

Hank, Boomhauer, Bill, Peggy, Nancy, Bobby, Connie, Minh, John Redcorn, and Chane Wassanasong are all back with their original actors.

Khan is now being played by Ronny Chieng.

Toby Huss, formerly the actor for Kahn, is now voicing Dale after the passing of Johnny Hardwick. Interestingly he's also listed as playing Cotton, but we all know he died in the original series. Fan speculation is that the baby "Good Hank" took his father's name as a tribute, but I think the kid would only be like 9 years old so it's more likely a flashback or something.

Gracie, the daughter of Lucky and Luann, is being played by Grey Delisle. Lucky and Luann are not on the cast list, so their characters will either have passed away to mirror their real life actors or simply be off-screen.

Marwan Naji is playing a new character named Muhammad.

No Joseph Gribble on the cast list, not sure if it's because he's not in it or if he's just not in the main cast.

Season 3 of White Lotus is wild, still have 2 episodes left so it’ll be interesting to see how far it goes. The show has been consistently excellent, head and shoulders above 99% of all the other big streaming shows. It’s one of those things I should hate on paper, a bunch of awful rich people being awful at luxury resorts and embarrassing themselves in foreign countries while the sympathetic characters get shit on. But god damn it’s just so well made, the casting, writing, cinematography, music, everything is phenomenal.

I dug it despite some of the mixed reviews out there (which I usually don't pay attention to anyway). But many of said reviews entailed comparisons to the prior 2 seasons, which I felt was almost too cliche -- the lowest hanging fruit, the cheap & easy angle. All that to say, I thought season 3 stood pretty well on it's own merits and although some episodes do feel too drawn out, I dug season 3 overall. I won't get into any specifics until you've fully wrapped the season.

Good story, but better cast. The end.

Continuation.

Bobby is 21 and working as a chef, Connie is in college, Kahn is divorced from Minh and living with Bill, Lucky and Luann are possibly dead or living off screen, Hank and Peggy apparently raising their daughter.

Anybody here watch Z Nation? It was recommended to me by a friend because he said it has some interesting themes and was sort of 'outside' the standard zombie genre fare in a number of respects. He said it's budget was obvious but that it had a lot of heart and good characters despite all that.
It was decent, not as bleak and dark as walking dead. It's more of a fun zombie series that doesn't take itself too seriously. My wife and I did a once over the whole series, I think it's at least worth a try.

On the other hand, in the same universe of z nation is black summer, and it's holy shit serious. Netflix put it out. If you dig intense, check it out. It only lasted for two seasons and it's pretty damn good if that's your vibe.

I finished it a couple days ago. Solid very season.

It’s the 3rd season of the same formula plus returning characters so I can see why people might complain in that regard. I never really felt like anything was drawn out since there are multiple story lines so there’s always something going on.

This might have been the best cast yet, I was a little worried at first but they nailed it. Jason Issacs, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Aimee Wood were standouts. Sam Rockwell’s part was also fun.

The only storyline I felt was lacking was the 3 middle aged white ladies. They all did a great job but their little arc was kind of trite and uninteresting. I thought the rich family would be the least interesting but it turned out to actually be the best.

The quality of the show overall is so incredibly high though that even the worst parts are better written and acted than 99% of other shows currently.

Thanks for the heads up. I figured tht, being a SyFy series, it was going to be a little cheesy at points.

As for Black Summer, I will give it a look eventually.

Much as I loved it for the best majority of it's run The Righteous Gemstones ended on a pretty boring note IMO. It wasn't actively bad but it also really wasn't particularly good. Reminded me, unfortunately, of Cobra Kai's finale, just felt like the creative team had nothing left and went eh, whatever.

McBride has an overall deal with Warners so I assume he'll be back with something new in the coming year or so. Or, good Lord, I think he and Green may still have the rights to doing new Halloween movies, have seen a few sites speculating that the series is not dead.

The Rehearsal S2 is Nathan Fielder at his most Fielder.

Last of Us season 2 seems to have all the same problems as the game did. I was hoping they’d use the opportunity to try and fix the glaring story issues but nope. I’m 4 episodes in and it‘s been a slog of forced cheap drama. They also should have recast Ellie, Bella Ramsey can’t carry the series without Joel, especially if they keep staying true to the game. Ellie was a belie rage filled killing machine by the end and Ramsey just can’t pull that off.

At least in the game you still got to play as Joel in flashbacks and playing as Ellie was satisfying even if the story was shit. They also haven’t switched to Abby’s POV yet so it’s totally one sided. We’ll see what happens but I get the feeling it’s going to be a very frustrating season.

I'd bet my left foot it's because white people can't voice non-white people in a cartoon anymore.
Anyways, thanks for the KOTH update, crazy enough I was wondering to myself two days ago when it would be coming out. God I loved that show.

The challenge is it already went a season too long, so there's just nothing left to finish on.

Me and my roomie haven't watched it because fuck anything Neil Cuckman is involved with and we're sick of Pedro Pascal (good actor, take a fucking break faggit). But we've definitely kept up with the news about it. The Bella Ramsey memes are funny but they really have nothing to do with why the show is, by most accounts, a dumpster fire.

The second game is a steaming pile of shit. Every criticism levied against it is legit and valid in my opinion.

Killing Joel was a huge mistake. Actually, let me modify that. Killing him the way they did was one of the biggest own goals in the history of video games. Trying to get people to sympathize with Abby was another own goal. Joel did the right thing in the first game. He made the rightr decision. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a faggit.

For context, I DID play the second game all the way through once. In the final fistfight, I let Ellie drown Abby about 10 times before I finally let her back up and go away.

The gameplay is still very solid, the environments are still magnificent, the level design is still peak. But let's not fucking kid ourselves. These games are narrative driven experiences-the gameplay is serving the story. And the story is audience hating slop. Fuck TLoU 2.

The show had the opportunity to fix the narrative mistakes and pacing of the second game. Roomie, basing this on what happened with the game series, said that Joel's death should have been saved for the end of this season (and the end of the second game) because without him, the story has no heart. Ellie being gay is gay not because gay people don't exist but because it could have been used as a thought provoking narrative device (the only immune person in the world choosing not to have babies but instead being in a relationship with a woman could have asked questions about what her responsibility is to this new reality) but instead they went all girl power to 'own the chuds'.

Joel didn't need a 'heroic' ending. And he could have been killed in retribution for whatever his previous crimes were before Ellie resurrected him spiritually (the broken watch symbolizes that when his daughter died, so did he). But the Fireflies were a shit organization that deserved to be wiped out. Killing Ellie would have done nothing to save the world and one girl that never had a chance to live a 'normal' life (she is younger than the current state of things) would have been gone. Joel went into a metaphorical 'hell' to rescue her and brought her out of it for all the right reasons.

But whatever. Neil Cuckman is a self loathing male so we got the shitshow that was TLoU 2. The series is unlikely to get a third entry (by Cuckman's own account) and it deserves to die.

Connie is still voiced by the same white woman. They only recast Kahn because they're uncomfortable with a whitey doing his thick accent.

My guess is Joseph will be in the show, just not as a regular character. His actor is a lot more in-demand now than he was when the show went off the air, so they probably didn't want to pay him to be a series regular.

Yeah, I was hoping that Craig Mazin would have the sense to curb Druckman’s horseshit but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Which is unfortunate because LOU2 has the elements for a compelling story if handled by someone competent.

Finished season 2 of The Wire. It was definitely not as good as season 1, but still quite enjoyable.

Characters I couldn't stand: Ziggy. Fuck that guy. Seriously.

Will start season 3 tonite or tomorrow.

Agree completely. The second game should have been better than the first.

Druckman used to be competent. The first game is a legit narrative masterpiece. A game that always amazes me whenever I revisit it.

Somewhere along the way, he became a male feminist. RIP Naughty Dog.

Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Firestarter) has landed the lead opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, which has a pilot order at Hulu. Armstrong will play the new slayer in the untitled Buffyverse project, which Gellar executive produces in addition to reprising her signature role as Buffy Summers.

Oscar winner Chloé Zhao is directing the pilot, written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman [Poker Face, Fringe, Haven, Human Target, Prodigal Son, Agents of SHIELD writers]

The main girl from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be the lead character in the Buffy revival.

The perfect age, too. At 15, they can do four years of high school and maybe this time it won't be weirdly sexed up.

Wonder if Boreanaz will come back in cameos as Angel.

It might be hard to explain why Angel looks to have aged 20 years. Doubt they'll have the budget for convincing CG deaging. Maybe they could have him stuck in his vampire face the whole time. Then the age lines on his face wouldn't really show.

Anyway, hopefully this new kid has some martial arts chops. The original show made obvious and liberal use of stunt doubles, but with everything being shot for 4K these days it's harder to get away with that unless you do a shitload of quick camera cuts and nobody likes that. And despite the stunt doubles on the original show, Sarah Michelle Gellar actually became a taekwondo black belt during the show's run and did many of her own stunts too. Her punches never looked convincing but her kicks always did, and that's certainly to be expected from a tkd practitioner.

Hopefully they get her trained up by the people who trained the Cobra Kai kids (but not Daniel's daughter).

Watched Gannibal on Hulu wih the wife when it was released a couple of years back. Pretty good TV series about a secluded Japanese village where strange things are happening and a cop with a troubled past gets assigned there to take over the peacekeeping duties from the previous guy, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. It's based on a manga of the same name.

The second season dropped recently so the roomie and I are watching the first season (first time for her) again so I can get refreshed. It's one of those 'weird family doing weird thing in a weird place' kind of stories but steeped in Japanese culture. Give it a watch, bros.

Final episode of Around the Horn is airing now on ESPN. Will catch it on the DVR when I get home.

Literally the best thing on their network. They won't stop until every actual journalist who works there has been replaced with a clown like Stephen A Smith.

It's still weird to me how he insists on dumbing down the show to a level that all of the fans of the game will just go fuck you you dong. Lotta fans of the game. Maybe a few more streaming but is it really worth just basically telling everyone that stayed in there on the games to get bent? Garbage pacing now too.

Poker Face is so, so much better.
