I got to hang with my brother today while he waited for his wife to get off work. We put in a good 40 rounds of Double Dash. We had been playing Super the last few times we hung out.

Checked out vids of MK64 and the SNES version on YT. The SNES one looks nice but there seem to be no slopes in it, the tracks are all.. uhm, flat. :) Well, that didn't stop me from enjoying the original F-Zero so it's okay I guess.

MK64 also looks quite good, considering the console it runs on.. :D (just kidding). I noticed some slowdowns at certain spots in the vids I've seen, is this normal?

The one I spent the most time with and enjoyed the most was DS, although I don't know if I'd go back to play that one now. Wii and 8 were both great games. I didn't get into MK until the 64 version, so I've never enjoyed the SNES version much.

I haven't played them all but out of the one's i have, it's double dash on the gamecube very closely followed by mario cart DS.
Xmas boxing day, i think 2005 ?, all the family came round my house in the evening and we had 6 DS's between us all and had a ton of fun that night playing it.

If it was single player slowdown isn't normal at all, but if it was 4 player split screen it might. I haven't done 4p in a long time, but a lot 4p games on the 64 would have trouble keeping up with the action.

There's a good chance a video is using emulation though, and N64 emulation has always been spotty.

I've had MK64 slow a few times in 4p Battle Mode when there were a lot of items in play, otherwise, no slowdown whatsoever.

I have to go for Double Dash as the character switching gimmick is probably the biggest change to the gameplay in the whole series. I found 8 a bit half arsed to be fair.
