There's not a great deal to pick from, but which character that only popped up once do you like the most? I would have to say my favorite would be either Geese Howard or Saisyu. Hmmm, if I had to pick only one, I'd go with Saisyu. What do you all think?

I'd have to go with Geese too since he was my favorite yet they ripped him away right after KOF 96. Saisyu Appeared twice, in 95 and 98 but regardless, he was still cool as hell.

Oh he was in 95 as well? DOH! LOL, now I feel stupid.

Then Geese it is, I guess.

Tough call. It would have to be a tie between Goenitz and Orochi. Goenitz clearly had the least amount of screen time out of all of the KOF bosses. Futhermore, they didn't dwell that much on his past (sure, most of us know that he took out Rugal's right eye, and that he killed Chizuru's older sister, but what did he do before that? Was he a stock broker who became irate after seeing Maximum Overdrive in a nearby movie theater? Who knows?).

Orochi, on the other hand, was the icing on the cake. Once he made his grand appearance as the final boss of KOF 97, I became greatly worried. After he slaughtered my team in about 60 seconds flat, I thought to myself, "This is the big, bad Orochi? No wonder so many people feared him." It would've been fun to play as him in KOF 98, but I guess that never happened.

As for my least favorite KOF character that SHOULD'VE appeared only once, that would be a tie between Li Xiangfei and Hinako (USELESS! ANNOYING! Both of them!).

That's right. There's a reason why she's appeared more times than Eiji, so

You're right, I don't know how to use her. Why? Because I never play as lame-o characters like her. And that still doesn't change the fact that she's still lame in retrospect (a school girl who wants to be a sumo wrestler? I think I can hear E. Honda laughing in the background). Furthermore, when I faced someone who had Hinako on their team, I mopped the floor with them.

*AHEM* Rather than letting this thread de-generate into a flame war, I'll quickly change the subject back to it's original topic. One other one-shot character that I liked was Krizalid. Yeah, he may have been just a clone of K', but he certainly was cooler than him. Also, unlike K', he didn't brood every other minute; he took action, and manipulated the KOF 99 tournament to his own ends. His plan would've succeeded, too, had it not been for the real Kyo Kusanagi (and that meddling K').

I hear ya, IB. Hinako, Athena, Yuri, Bao, Xiangfei. All those voices drive me up the proverbial wall.

Back to the topic at hand. Goenitz is just a badass. He can rip up any of those cutesy types in 2.7 seconds and read them a quote from the book of Revelations later. Goenitz rules.

Eiji, because I don't give a rat's ass about the other ones.

And while IB felt he had to add characters that should've been one shots:

Heidern
Sport Heroes Team (Most definitely!)
Whip
Yamazaki (Would've been happier if he didn't appear at all.)
Billy (See Yamazaki.)
Chizuru
Kasumi (How much of a shell head will she be if brought back next year?)

I will stand up and argue whenever I see the sports team being ripped on. Yes, they are a bit hokey, yes I hate Brian and think he REALLY sucks, and yes Lucky shouldn't be fighting with a basketball.

But I do like Lucky a lot, and I think Heavy D! is awesome too. I hated them in 94, but love Lucky and Heavy D! in 98. In fact, they are two of my favorites in 98.

So there

But he only appeared once as opposed to, say, Kasumi. What does that tell you?

Eh, forget it. I'm just being silly. Shutting up now XD

How many years did the New Face team appear (outside of '98)? Cuz' this might determine me vote.
As for characters that should have been one-timers, Chang and Choi need to die. I hate those bitches. They really should have come up with Jhun and Mei-Li earlier, when it was still just three-on-three so Chang and Choi could have been kicked out.

If you don't count '98, I would go with Shermie. She rocks.

PSHHHH!

US Sports team fucking RULES!

Heavy D! is the man, he's dripping with combos and he's just plain fun to use. Brian Battler is super strong, and Lucky Glauber is like the god of air. Yamazaki pissed me off for a while, but i think he's cool.

favorite 1-timer?

hrm...

i've really only played 96 a tiny bit, and i played 97 a lot.....

i'd probably ahve to say Orochi or Geese, but i haven't seen goenitz. oh well.
