BackBit Platinum Cartridge

Cart is up and running. Only tried a few games so far: NeoTurf, MagLord, Windjammers, MetalSlug 1&2, Garou, all work great through the Furrtek, no issues. Metal Slug X, however, I cannot get to load. It just glitches and infinitely loops through the load screen. Might be Furrtek-specific, not sure, Haven't pulled an MVS out of the closet yet to try direct.

Update: tried on MVS, still can't load Metal Slug X, but instead of an infinite boot loop, it just boots to a completely black screen.

You will need to use the decrypt tool on Slug X (and a handful of others) check the FAQ for more instructions.

Edit: Nevermind was thinking of the wrong Slugs.

Check your files, do you have an EP1 file? Rename it to P2 file extension.

Got everything else decoded with the NeoDecode tool, so hopefully MetalSlugX is just a one-off.

Update: file extension change fixed it. That's weird...different mame versions I guess?

Do any of these flashcarts work better than using the Mister ROM set? Serious question, not trolling.

I'm not sure if you're asking if the Mister works better? The Backbit is the first one to use plain old rom files organized into folders, the same that MAME generally uses.

Opened mine up today, the shell design is clever, you can easily disassemble with no folding of the label.





A couple 0001 possibly serial number stickers on each board.

Gotta say, I'm very impressed how smoothly everything is running on the Backbit, especially through the Furrtek converter. No issues so far, everything loads quickly. As someone who briefly had the Darksoft cart (and subsequently returned it due to problems I couldn't work around), I was skeptical. But this cart is excellent.

Got mine today. Cart #310. Got the SD card set up and it runs like a dream on my MV1B board.

Glad I never gave Terraonion any money. Fuck those guys.

Cool feature added to the menu: per game Soft Dip settings access.

I don't have a unibios on my MVS board so this is a welcomed feature. The button and/or the switch is behind the cabinet.
