The cartridge converts the audio to ADPCM-B so that it can be played back by cartridge systems. There's only one channel.

Danke. So short of them having an audio out from the cartridge to splice back into the L-R audio cable (fat chance) that’s not going to happen. Very sad times indeed.

Yeah, Game Sack made a big issue of it in his video. He wanted an audio out from the cartridge for CD quality audio. I imagine it's possible -- probably easier to just include an mp3/wav player in the NeoSD Pro than have it convert to ADPCM-B. It does have a 3.5mm jack, but it doesn't seem to be used for anything.

Sidenote: NGDevTeam and Bitmap Bureau did find a way to include high quality stereo recorded music in their games by borrowing one of the ADPCM-A channels. Not sure what special hardware is in the cart for that (the rom version of Xenocrisis is missing this). I imagine that kind of solution is too much trouble to implement on the NeoSD Pro, but just saying anything's possible.

Pretty sure 4p Kizuna is something that happens with a special mobo or bios outside the cart.
just curious how it works and if it could be incorporated, would also make cart even more marketable

If you're curious, here it is:

I thought I remembered NeoBomberman working on reproducing the board but can't seem to find any threads at the moment.

There was also some work going on over here

It's a thing I think would be pretty cool to mess around with but it is also a good chunk of hardware dedicated to a single game.

I'm pretty sure that was just an idea and never a confirmed reality.

Yeah not possible to do 4P Kizuna with just a cart.
I mostly believe that, BUT am curious if that can be bridged by a good coder, it just seems there has to be a way to emulate that support, surely the code is written into every Kizuna cart, I need to research whats in the special pcb and what the connections look like, again just daydreaming

But why?

You can already do 4P mode on a regular system with 2P control panel thanks to Razoola and his Unibios.

Yep. @gargoyle7 FYI you don't need a special cart or special board. The Unibios has cheats that will let you access the game code and play the whole thing on a normal system. It's not even that interesting.

Code for the multitap adapters was added to the unstable Neo Geo core for the MiSTer a few months ago.

From Evie on the Backbit forum:

"Update 5/7/2025: PCBs for first batch (orders up to 1/7) are in transit, with cases expected to ship soon. Once all parts arrive, they will be assembled and shipped to customers."

And from the previous update about ship times:

Orders placed up to Jan 7th are planned to ship by late May.
Orders placed from Jan 8th to Feb 14th are planning to ship around June.
Orders placed from Feb 15th until April are planned to ship around July.

Looks like my cart will arrive sometime after June.

Update 5/16: PCBs and cases for the first batch (orders up to 1/7) are here. Other parts are in transit. So I will work to get these shipped as soon as possible and order the second batch once quality of all parts are confirmed.

Update 5/19: Personally verifying all PCBs and cases for the first batch insertion. Making sure that optimal goobscent is applied by slotting into ass crack, Kernow to report and verify goobscent once international test batch received in UK.

Got a shipping notification this morning, things seem to take a week to get to me from California these days, so we'll see, but hopefully sometime next week. Guess I should start looking at how to load some files on an SD card.

"Orders placed up to Jan 7th are being tested and packed now, and should all go out within a week. Next batch (orders placed Jan 8th to Feb 14th) estimated mid-June."
