All those AES carts in less than 3-4 months. Jesus, Fuck, Man!!!

My favorite quote I read on Youtube: "Blog 15: Welcome to another blog. As you can see, I've recently acquired my own private island, and have begun to hollow out the volcano for my games room, but I fear that I won't have enough room for everything.... I may have to have the ocean drained and build an add-on there."

Here's the video of him talking a bit about his AES collection:

this guy has way too fucking much money... the other immediate thing that came to mind was he has way too much free time to collect all this shit for 3 different hobbies... which I'm not really sure how you can have too much of both at the same time. maybe he is independently wealthy. who knows.

Yeah, he is rich as hell. He owns $250,000 cars, arcade machines, has a built in home theatre, has an HD TV in everysingle room/hallway in the house, 3 PS3/Xbox 360s hooked up to 3 monitors for driving games, etc... Apparently, in the early 90's he owned some import game stores and then closed them down a little after Capcom threatened him for selling a lot of Super Famicom versions of Street Fighter 2, due to hurting their local sales. I guess check out some of his blogs.

BTW, this guy spends way too much money on this stuff. Even most hardcore collectors here wouldn't do what he does. Seriously, a complete JP N64 collection also, blpppppthhhh!!! Probably has a complete PS2, Xbox collection, etc... LOL

I really don't get where the "wow" factor in this is. He just has the money to spend. He probably hasn't played the majority of them.

HA!

This reminds me of that other aussie dude that wanted some games as conversation starters only...maybe they should get together sometime. :)

Well, a piece of me wants to buy a full AES collection like that guy, but on the other hand i like that hobby because every cart i buy, (rare carts, of course) have a little story behind it, sometimes like the time that passed to save enough money!. It's not only to show the money and get the cart, it's more than this. More special for me, because i've been playing Neo Geo since 1991.

In my opinion, it can be easy to buy every AES game just now if you are rich, but it will be a collection without soul, i don't know how to explain it.

That is what I was getting at in the first place with this thread, actually. Just up and buying AES carts very fast without the "Hunt" really. You know he bought mostly overpriced E-bay copies of the games. Then again, the guy does have some connections. He also ends up getting PS3/360 games 2 weeks before they come out in the US/Japan/Europe.

I was late to the party with the NGH system in 1999. I've owned a NGCD Toploader since 1996 though (got a CDZ in 2001). Still, getting a NGH for my graduation present with Samurai Shodown 1 was a damn good start to get me hooked. I had to save up for a while to get my first new cart, KOF99 US. I finally got a job while going to junior college buying quite a bit of carts within 2000-2003. Good thing I got Mark of The Wolves, Metal Slug 3 and some others new when they came out. Still, I only have 40 mixed US/JP carts. I really just bought the main games I want and can afford. KOF94-2000, Last Blade 1+2, AOF1-3, SS1-4, etc... Pretty much the main SNK fighters and a few other games.

This Aussie sounds like the exact person who would needs to complete his collection with Power Spikes II carts. If I were TonK, I'd target him like a koala in heat.

Talk about taking the fun out of collecting. Even with my limited funds, sometimes it feels a little joyless when I'm now able to obtain games I dreamed of owning in my childhood so relatively easily. It's still fun, even though I have less remaining that I want to collect now, because I take my time and am deliberate about it. It seems like this guy is just trying to rapidly fill a void of some kind.

I stopped listening when I heard him say "AES collection". A real collector would know there is no such thing as an AES game.

Unless we have to give him a pass for being a foreigner.

I got a bunch of "Japanese Home Carts" that I collected over the years, but only games that I would play. He's just collecting so he could make youtube videos and show them off.

I've found that a big part of the fun in getting games like these is the hunt itself; it just feels more rewarding while playing knowing that there was a struggle to get a game and it feeling all the sweeter. Being able to buy whatever whenever is kind of boring imo.

The Neo scene isn't like the NES or SNES scene where you can just find rare games in "the wild". It doesn't matter how long you "hunt", your not gonna find a Metal Slug in the wild. If you want a complete, or even a decent neo collection you either have to come here or ebay. Both here and ebay are virtually the same for AES prices, and there is literally no bargains to be had for rarer games.

sure, but every animal out there is designed to kill you at least 4 times before you hit the ground.

Yeah, gotta watch out for Dingo's that take babies etc.

I was walking my dog the other day and found this:

His response on youtube. Hmmm, oh well.

"lol, not its not like that at all, I use to be in the 90s a freak for aes , then i sold off some of the collection and moved to cd , i have all the cd softwares and had a few neo geo aes carts always hanging around. Its when a good contact of mine started getting sonic wings 3 and neo turf etc , i could see the possibility of getting the complete collection... SNK lives on"

I have been watching all the video's on his you tube channel, he's a crazy mofo for sure!

I just don't see the point in owning all of that stuff though. I mean, there was one video where he was talking about what he picked up over the last couple of weeks. Must have gone through 20 or 30 games lol How the hell do you sit down and enjoy that? Im lucky if I get to play through 10 games a year these days, even if I was a multi millionaire and didn't have to work I still couldn't sit there and play through it all.

His arcade stuff was cool, I could see myself one day having a garage fitted out like that with a few cabs to play when friends come over. The 30k asstastic console games he can keep though, no interest in all that, I only buy stuff I intend to play.

There's nothing really stand out as far as expensive homecarts go on the shelf behind him in that video. Going by the selection of titles he has, I'd say he probably got them from hit-japan.
