Google's Internet search engine to pull info from users' Gmail accounts in latest expansion.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Google's Internet search engine is getting more personal by highlighting information drawn from its users' Gmail accounts on its main results page.

The feature announced Wednesday marks Google's latest attempt to deliver data that people are seeking more quickly as it tries to maintain the dominance of its lucrative Internet search engine.

Google Inc. is initially testing the feature with 1 million Gmail users who must sign up to participate.

Gmail's more than 425 million users already can search within their e-mail accounts to find something they need, such as an order from Amazon.com or an airline reservation.

Now, Gmail users who join the trial will be shown a list of relevant e-mails on Google's main search results page if the correspondence contains a word entered in a search request.

Right now this is opt-in only, but we've seen these sort of things end up in wordy EULAs before, so be warned. At this time I'm sure personal information will be stripped, but if you use your GMail accounts for anything important (code snippets, ideas, ramblings you wouldn't want out there) you'd better think twice.

Well, nothing truly is free. Time to configure my own email via a private server.

Well, not now, but soon. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1344469930.057002.jpg

You see your own emails in search results, only if you opt in?

What's the big deal?

You're not even remotely concerned of the security risk that presents? I know most people just sit logged into their GMail account anyway, but.... Really? No concern at all?

I guess if I use computers at some library and don't log out, then yeah it's a risk.

I got my account back when it wasn't possible to delete anything, so I don't put anything sensitive there out of habit.

One of the few emails I ever received in my gmail inbox, before ignoring it forever, was from Hentai Sama.

You can imagine the ads I saw.

Thank God I only have a gmail account for login to google play in my android tablet, nothing more...

It smells like a step-by-step slow progres to something I don't like.... :/

Will be pretty anti-climatic for me. Just a bunch of "google found some interesting shit on research articles and counseling theories"

My gmail has a serious lack of dick growing pills
