TREASURE cannot lose.

Years ago, you could get it for $10 new at places like BestBuy. From what I remember, it was an amazing game that looked and played great.

Played, loved it, sold it.

Truly an amazing game though. The beat'em up aspects, the shooting, and the boss fights where you had your jump jets on all ruled.

This was a treasure title, no?

I wish some shit like this would come to XBLA.

One of the best games on the system.

It's also dirt cheap.

I put a lot of time into the game. Great overall, lots of replay to it.

Awesome last boss.

I also thought this was a fucking wickedly fun title.
Probably the best title they have done in recent years. It totally captured the spirit of the character and everything about it rocked. I would also take it over their other GBA offerings or recent console titles, hands down.

Unlocking stuff is lame? I don't really follow here. Most games these days have some form of unlockable content. I'd go as far to say they lose points in a review score from most of the big game sites if there is no unlockable content.

Back on topic, this game had some great level design. I liked how some of the characters were hidden in the backgrounds, ie behind a window or whatnot.

Amazing game, Went through it three times or so. Although I'm trying to get the true ending for the game.

Friend of mine just picked up that Tiny Toons Bad Dreams game Treasure did and said it was pretty good as well.

I have mixed feelings about this title. On one hand, it was really exciting to see practically all of Osamu Tezuka's characters tied into the Astro Boy universe, it was like the KOF of timeline crossovers. The story is definitely this title's strength. Its weakness is the slowdown... oh man, is there slowdown. I thought it unlike Treasure to not completely optimize their games... but then, I guess it was probably Hitm@ker that programmed it, and Treasure published it?

What difficulty level are you playing the game? I played it on the hardest difficulty. Trust me, there is incredible slowdown.

LOL

That's a good question. It has to do with going through the game multiple times and beating/playing the game in a certain way to get a true ending. I've looked online, but I'm still not sure how to truly beat it. Once you get to the nd, you're sent back in some sort of time warp to play the whole game over again until you get it right.

Sure there's slowdown, but what do you expect when you have 20+ guys on the screen at once all shooting and moving? I don't care if you're Houdini, the game will slow down just because of the huge tax on the GBA's resources.

That's exactly it. There was absolutely no need to spam the screen to the point that slowdown occurred. Look at Gunstar Super Heroes, no slowdown.

QA fell down on the job with Astro Boy.

I'd rather have 20+ guys with a touch of slowdown then 15 with none. It was fun and this whole slowdown thing is being nitpicky as hell IMO.

astro boy is one of my favorite games of all time. top 10 definitely, top 5 maybe.
for a handheld game to pull that off...
at one time, I had memorized the ending dialogue between Tobio and his dad (the guy who built Astro). I wrote it down in Word a while back.

and yeah, it would have been perfect too, except I had some major trouble going through the game on the second loop to get the true ending. you have to talk to certain people to trigger certain events so you can progress, god it's been so long...but I remember having to resort to the internet to see who I had to talk to and where they were.

still, nothing but love for it.
i'll admit, i got emotional at the end when astro was flying nuka to the sun.

Loller

Slowdown is no goddamn fun. Nothing more frustrating that getting killed by slowdown, it's like throwing a fireball in SF2 on Xbox Live service, wait for lag, then realize that you got killed while the lag was in progress.
