okay so you can actually save your progress in single player mode, but it does not auto save for you.

if you press pause during a game, choose the second option and that's the "quit and save" option.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the delivery day. I hope it's here when I get home.

I didn't go with NCXS this time, because they charge me WAY too much in shipping because I'm also in New York so they charge me over six bucks for the shipping and another seven or eight bucks for New York State sales tax, so I saved 14 bucks and went with Play-Asia.

The only good thing is the I get whatever they ship me the next day. (I'm getting the SHMUP Gashapon figures tomorrow) But it takes a week or so to get stuff from Play-Asia. They sent out my game last Sunday, so hopefully I'll get it Saturday at the latest.

It's interesting they did it split screen. I wrote an Arkanoid clone for the DS a while back and at first tried it that way but didn't like the gap. I ended up using bottom screen for game play (with stylus control), and the top screen to show powerup info, etc.

the gap can really screw with you when the ball is going really fast.

Yep, that's exactly why I scrapped that method. also, since I only had access to either the d-pad or stylus, i was forced to use dpad doing split screen. So doing it the other way allowed for stylus control, which really works well.

overall i like what they did, it really looks beautiful across both screens, but ive lost a ball here and there from the gap at high speed.

would have been cool if they designed the screens to be touching when the DS is open, and this wouldnt be a problem.

the game i hate it the most in is contra 4, enemies will be in the dead space and will kill you out of nowhere.

Finally got the game. The Paddle works like a dream, nice and loose just like the arcade. I got a chuckle when I heard the one Eurobeat song..IN ENGLISH!

Is their any "Revenge of DOH" boss fights? I used to love getting really far on my Apple II GS version and fighting the huge bosses at the end of certain levels.

I'm going to just play "Clear Mode" then I'm going to download an FAQ for all of the translations.

Hey Dash, where did you get your DS Rom Cart? PM me with where you got it, and how much. I want to snag one before Nintendo goes apeshit and gets rid of them all. I wanna get my homebrew on.

Very nice. Thanks for the info as I had no knowledge of this game before.

Hmm. A paddle attachment and it works good? Looks like this is a must-buy, in my book. Arkanoid is the best paddle game ever, and don't you forget it. ;)

The demo, on the other hand, seemed quite limited. Sure, it has you breaking blocks and getting powerups; but the demo is limited to what you kind of find in Arkanoid clones and not the real Arkanoid. The real Arkanoid always had enemy ships flying around, which technically provided temporary moving barriers for you to have to deal with. Kind of an added dynamic to the board. The demo had none of that. I also can understand the structure of the game might also have had them get rid of the idea that you played a level to open up the gates (to the side) with which you chose to move to the next level.

All in all, it's a nice little game, but the demo definitely didn't show an Arkanoid quite as close to Arkanoid or as free as some of the clones (on the internet) are. And I do mean the clones are really good. The big selling point really has to be the paddle attachment. Something the clones don't offer. I don't know if it's worth it without it.

On another note, I love the complete irony that as of this post, my Avatar is clearly Chizuru Kagura, and the text right below it says, "Disciple of Orochi!"

Yeah, that's also what I'm disappointed about. It's more like Breakout with power ups, there isn't any boss battles or little things floating about to mess up your shots like in the rest of the game. (Or at least for the route I took)

But that doesn't mean the game is bad, no sir. I played the game for a good solid hour and a half last night. The only thing I didn't like was on the route I took, two stages had the same music, and the one stage with the jazz singer scatting got old in the middle of the first stage. I don't need a woman going "Skee-bop a bob skeddy de bop!" while I'm trying to play Arkanoid.

While I miss the little things flying about and the boss fights, the game is still a lot of fun with a TON of different paths, tons of unlockable content and just classic fun that I doubt will ever come to America.

NCS surprised me when my slowest shipped game arrived yesterday (for some reason, ground shipments to Minneapolis tend to be faster).

I only had a bit of time to play the game, but I want to say the controller itself surprised me: it's build very well and just "feels right" when you play the game --about the only improvement would've been placing an action button on the controller itself.

It makes me want to go back to CA and dig up my copy of the NES Arkanoid + controller.

What's the deal with the different color paddles? Is the pack in one a certain color and if you want a different one you have to buy it seperately? I want the black one just to match my black/red ds.

This game is fucking awesome. The spinner controller has a satisfying amount of weight to it, it makes it a real joy to play. Go buy this NAO! And get the spinner controller. It makes the game so much better.

Took two months to get this in the mail from Play-Asia. Got and love it. The paddle controller seals the deal.

I cancelled my order because it was taking so damn long. I'll probably pick it up eventually.

Thought I would bump this thread with the North American release not but a month away. Sad to say, but it seems we aren't getting the paddle controller. Instead, Taito is releasing the game as a budget $20 title.

Now I either have to get the import version, or hunt down the peripheral on ebay. Either option will cost a pretty penny. Why oh why did you have to get rid of the goodness Taito?

I noticed that as well. I really think the paddle should have been included or at least available to purchase in the USA.

As long as they still support the paddle on the US release of this and Space Invaders Extreme, I'll be happy. Ships 6/17, according to GameStop's website, but it's a budget title so who the hell knows when it'll show up in stores.

I'll probably pick it up for the english translation. I'm pretty sure it'll support the paddle controller. Looks like importing it wasn't a waste of money after all!:tickled:
