Arcades and heaters... can they co-exist?

I had an interesting question for you guys. To say the least I have quite a dedicated cabinet collection going. Now I live in an apartment, where there's a base heater running along the floor in my room. I was warned not to put any arcades next to it because it can warp the wood... is this true? I kind of believe it and don't want to take any chances messing up my dedicated cabs (cause they are in excellent condition). If this is true, what are some other options I could use to heat up my room? When I turn the heater off it's very cold in here.

I was thinking maybe I could get one of those ceiling heaters? You know the ones that hang from the ceiling and blow how air into the room when it gets to be a certain temp? My only problem with that is, it would be blowing the air in the same direction all the time, wouldn't that warp the top of a cabinet instead of the bottom? I'm trying to think of all my options here.

Thanks in advance!

...anybody know? :conf:

My main concern is I have a lot of dedicated cabinets that I don't want to damage by putting them along the wall that has the heater. But at the same time, I don't want to freeze to death. lol

:p an issue I was thinking about myself..

I have my Klax cab right up against a baseboard heater..but the baseboard heater doesn't get hot enough-the outer covering to cause a problem..

But,I do worry about the heat actually getting in the cab when it's on,thus the cab would be very-overly warm inside when running.
I don't play the cab much so I haven't noticed a problem..if I do or did I'd pull it away from the heater abit and check to see if the interior feels hotter then normal.

I don't know if the heat from the baseboard heater could make power supply fan burn out..-grease get dry-hard..

In all seriousness, the only thing that I can see harming your woodies would be a constant change between hot and cold, humid and dry.

Otherwise the only other thing you should possibly worry about would be side art (if vinyl) getting hot, and/or paint bubbling on the older stuff. But the cab would have to be directly in front of the heater vent for weeks and weeks straight for something like that to happen.

I've got an Impress and a Gold Cab about 8 or so inches away from base board heaters and I haven't had any problems. They've been like that for at least a couple years.
