Weren't there two of 'em? I have a 7" ep and the Symphonies of Sickness gatefold album (yeah, the one with the "nice" cover art... )...

I can't remember the title of the ep right now... It came with a white satanic cross on black, surrounded by... by... some stuff which commonly surrounds death/grind core bands' depictions of christian symbols... Some horns, blood-dripping knifes, you know the score!

Some say the ep would be rare. Another death metal rarity I got is the 7" collectors box of Morbid Angel, which is basically their last album in 7" version, with added artwork and more cruzifixes... It's called "altairs of madness" if I remember correctly... Must take a look into my record collection when I return home today!

I had both records, "Symphonies of Sickess"-Carcass and "Altars of Madness"-Morbid Angel...
The second one was definitely better...

Yeah, more sophisticated, but hey, SoS is really weirdly great, with hilarious lyrics, heh!

"Swarming vulgar mass of infected virulency"... now THAT'S what I call death-grind-I'm-going-to-kill-ya song titles!

Btw., I've just checked the darker corner of my record collection and found that I was wrong with that Carcass ep thing (the one with the white cross), it was Incubus (Gore rec., 1989/90, 3 track ep, no title), but it's even more radically dark. Cool.

I'm not really into this kind of stuff anymore, I just dig out all those blood stained plates from time to time, while blowing my ears with some Reign in Blood

I agree. What do you think of Hearwork? Personally, I think it's Carcass' best album!

LOL, I had that album back in 1992, I can't find it now for some reason, I got Symphonies of Sickness, actually, they're right, it's pretty sick, you guys should read the lyrics which I don't even want to explain in details, far worse than the album cover done by "Gruesome Graphics Inc", trust me. If I find this album (might lay around my apt), I'll come back to this thread.

Their later albums really suck, more into mainstream audience with too much political correctness garbage, just like Bond 007 movies.

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!...I didn't know there were Metalheads on these boards. Excellent. Carcass rule man, I have Swansong, excellent album. As far as Death Metal is concerned my fav band are In Flames (melodic Death Metal). I'm more into Black Metal than Death though. Was anyone here at Tattoo the Planet ?, verdicts ?. We got screwed in Ireland the original line up was PanterA, Slayer, Cradel of Filth, Static X and Visions of Disorder. PanterA and Static X pulled out cause of Sept 11th. They were replaced by Sepultura and Biohazzard, which made up for the loss of PanterA (I couldn't care less about Static X to be honest). Then on the day we arrived at the concert and there was a big sign up saying that Sepultura had pulled out to . Such toss. So the line up ended Slayer, Cradle of Filth, Biohazzard, Skindive. Slayer, CoF and Biohazzard were excellent but the absense of Sepultura was a real disapointment, even though their new stuff is cack it would of been cool to hear the old classics.

Looking back from now, Sepultura was and is a great band, but back then I crawled through the underground like a black, slimy maggot, looking for EPs, demo tapes, flexies, split albums and other phun shtuff.

Some names? Grief, Stikky, Pissed Spitzels, Master's Hammer (GODLY!), Satanic Malfunctions, Exit 13, Placenta, Incubus, S.O.B, Disharmonic Orchestra, My Dying Bride, Minch, Electro Hippies, E.N.T...etc...

Sepultura, Voivod, Slayer and others meant "pop" back in the 80s (in our area).

Death, Black and Grind, later on Doom, were big in Germany and Scandinavia at that time, now it's just a big, shoddy crossover sound which emerges from once proud Metal pumps like Nuclear Blast rec...too bad.
