FF games aside.

Browsing the PSP section yesterday and I saw a bunch of them but knew nothing of most.

Trust NG.com folks more than review sites, so I figured I'd ask.

Ended up getting Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins instead.

Which is great and quite hard--nice old school drawback.

Just playing through generations of chaos, kinda plays like a Japanese rpg meets rome total war. The learning curve is brutal though just chucks you in the deep end.

Play it on the hardest level its the only way to play it in my opinion, the other Difficulty settings are to easy imo.

Also another Fact if your really into your RPG's You might aswell get your Psp to run emu's and psp then your world is your oyster.

If you like strategy RPGs, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is an absolute must-buy.

I tried to get through that one a few weeks ago, but it kept putting me to sleep. The dialogue scenes were insanely long and the gameplay seemed a little dull. I dunno... just my impression of it.

The only two "must-haves" I can recommend aren't really traditional RPG's, but they share many RPG-like elements:

Jeanne D'Arc

Patapon

My only problem with Strategy-RPGs is how terrible I am at them.

That Jeanne d'Arc looks fantastic though.

Gurumin is a decent action RPG from Falcom.
I'll back up Gurumin.
It's fun. A little kiddie-ish. But fun.
In the same vein as MegaMan Legends. Only not boring.

I had Patapon for a while. Play was okay. But the loading when you wandered put me off, and the one-button play put me to sleep.

But I'm not much of an RPGer anywho.

Patapon was great.

Now that you mentioned Gurumin is like MegaMan Legends (which I liked), I'll have to check that out too.

And yes, I love FFT.

But as I said, I'm so bad at it it's not even funny.

My mind just doesn't work with all that Strategy-based stuff.

Doesn't stop me from trudging my way through and enjoy the games though.

Third'd. Sure, it's disguised as a rythym game, but this is actually a fairly hardcore sort of RTS. It's really awesome, and it's only $20. A no-brainer if you ask me.

Its not like FFT at all in that regard, its a much simpler SRPG (think Vandal Hearts 1). No classes and grinding to worry about. This is why I love it.

I definitely recommend you give it a shot, the production values are through the roof.
