Enjoying OG GB on this form factor, gotta say. (Edit) And another thing (alcohol slurred) being able to play GBA with run ahead and shaders is so great. Blows my mind that you'd choose analogue pocket over some of these devices, given their versatility.

I was one of the day 1 orders for the RP5 since I skipped the 4. Wanted a new shell shape and screen coming from the 3. Between the glass front I hate, not liking any of the colors, and seemingly meh speaker quality, I was like 60:40 on the idea that I was just going to end up flipping it on eBay shortly after receiving and return to my Powkiddy X28. Day of delivery, that changed to 75:25 since I was super asshurt to find out it still didn't have enough juice to run Flycast with the Per-Pixel setting (main reason I ordered).

I'm happy to report that after a few more days of playing on it, I've decided to keep it after all. Still not quite as comfy as the X28 nor is the speaker quality as good, but it's a damn fine handheld overall. The black color is really boring, but I'll live just like I did with my black Deck and black X28.

My package from 4PX reached a city 30 minutes away yesterday morning but was not delivered today. I believe it is in FedEx's hands, which both makes this less surprising and means that it won't come until Monday. Assholes.

I am having trouble with WiFi (WPA-2 Personal) with both stock and Knulli OS. Knully had multiple layers of annoying as it kept wanting to turn airplane mode on, which is in a weird place in the settings. Even with it turned off, it won't connect.

Ironically and irritatingly, I flashed Batocera, which has essentially an identical interface, on a flash drive for the VCS PC Mode, and it connected immediately.

RG CubeXX. Probably should have led with that, huh?

edit: With stock firmware, I cannot connect to my phone's hot spot if I turn security off. Not even WPA-2 Personal will work, which explains my router issue. I'm going to try Knulli next.

edit2: Knulli is a no go, even without encryption. On the upside, it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue. On the downside, I guess this thing goes into mothballs until the next firmware release.

I got lucky and got everything working in Knulli.

I changed the storage setting to the second SD card. This caused a message saying I needed to restart. After I did, the settings were wiped.

After setting the network up again and rebooting again, everything seemed to click for reasons I can only explain by it being the first public release of a new OS on a new device.

I spent enough time in Batocera on the VCS yesterday that everything was familiar, so configuring was quick.

Pictures and impressions to follow tonight!
