He is testing out the Unicorn version of what will likely be the RG Cube. Does look to be a sweet setup to tate DC shmups.

Squared screen look really a best size for shmups. 3DS maybe.
Anbernic seems better quality/finition than Unicorn not ?

Yeah, I am curious - he claims the Unicorn feels very nice/quality and he literally has ALL the devices lol. Anbernic always feels high quality though. If the Cube is $125 or under, I'll probably snag one. I like the RGB30, but it feels kinda cheap.

Got the RG35XX SP in on Saturday. It feels super solid, I’ve been enjoying it. The microswitched controls feel fantastic.Tthe clicking is a bit on the loud side and I wish it were a little less stiff.

I still prefer the older model for general comfort but the SP will be the one to go in the pocket when I go out now.

I originally bought a Powkiddy RGB30 to play vertical MAME, GB, GBC, and NGPC, but it was junk, so I returned it. I bit on launch day for an RG Cube, hoping to have the results lacking on the RGB30. Hasn't shipped yet, but hope to have the Cube in a couple weeks. If there's interest I'll follow up here.

RG Cube so far, so good. I see using this for GB, GBC, MVS, NGPC, random puzzlers, maybe Pico8. If you have something specific you wanna know about, lemme know.

Pros:
  • Feels good in hand
  • Nice build quality
  • Screen is great
  • Decent battery
  • No fan noise
  • No need for TF card
Cons:
  • D-pad is no go for shmups
  • Light bleed issue (minor)
  • Could use CFW/rom image

I put muOS on my SP shortly after getting it. It's pretty neat, especially if you add in all the fan made themes to find one that you like. They haven't released an SP specific version yet so closing the lid doesn't do anything, and there are a few minor things that will probably get ironed out in the next release Overall it's pretty great.

I'm really hoping for GarlicOS on the thing though. That OS on the original RG35XX is the GOAT emulator OS for me. Looks like the developer has it running on the newer devices but it's not optimized for the chipset yet.
