ok so i had my kof 2k2 on ps2 sitting there so i decided to play it a little and i had forgotten how shitty the SF stick was for KOF, i can't pull the qcfX2 P/k/whatever or any DM's!!!

Anyone know of a good ps2 stick that can pull all the kof shenanigans? I mean my mvs cab's stick's are probably 10+ years old and they are ideal for kof... at least i think so. Suggestions?

MAS sticks rock. I have them for my dreamcast. Those bitches do everything I tell them to. Get some MAS sticks and you'll be pimpin'

As far as Hori sticks go, I have a Fighting Stick SS for Saturn, and I love it. I've never played the PS2 sticks before because I don't own a PS2.

Why don't the street fighter sticks work for KOF?

its the stick man!!! It just...i try to do a power wave and it yells SHORYUKEN instead :eek_2:

Nah ok, its seriously the stick, its nice for capcom games where the controls aren't nearly as tight as kof (2k2 for example).

I'll check out the MAS!!! Aren't they like $100 a piece?? Anyone have a good website where to get them with ok shipping?

A decent option to look into is a pelican universal real arcade joystick(not the pl950 model). The stick works pretty well (similar to us neo geo cab sticks) and I found one brand new for $20 at gamestop. Then I just replaced the buttons with happ arcade buttons (concave). It took me under an hour to do this (and no soldering). I love it now. I'm not big on japanese style joysticks or buttons. So if you're looking for something similar to a us neo cab , this might be to your liking.

I didn't want to buy one at first because every one I saw had something wrong with the buttons (at least one button was always stuck). That is the major downfall with these sticks. If you switch them out, it's a great stick. Good luck finding one. If I see them anywhere cheap, I'll let you know.

:oh_no: Im reading alot of negative stuff on the pelican ones, they blow out your controller ports on your ps2 is you use them for various systems! Ouch.

I guess Im going to look for an affordable MAS/Hori. :crying:

Too bad about all those bad reports. It seems to be a problem on the slim ps2's, and not the older ones. I'm also not sure if this situation has been verified while using the new slimmer pelican real arcade universal. That's the one I have. As of now I haven't experienced any of those problems. I mainly use it on my xbox, however. Good luck, anyway.

The Asciiware Arcade Stick for the PS1. (If you didn't know, you can use PS1 controllers on your PS2)

I've had mine since 1997 and it still works flawlessly to this day. It's taken a beating too, (I've dropped it a few times). I've tried other Arcade Sticks, but none have felt as good as my Asciiware Stick. It's perfect for me; not too big, not too small, not too light, not to heavy. It has the baseball bat stick (my preference), instead of the lolli-pop stick that the Hori's have.

I bought it from EB back in 1997 for like $20.

If you have any sticks you like for other systems, you could hunt down a controller converter that will let you plug them into your playstation.
An other idea would be that since your SF sticks are good for capcom games, and your MVS sticks are good for SNK games, you could get the KOF games you want on cart and play them on your cab. It would probably be cheaper than buying 2 expensive sticks for your PS2, although it might not.

just a thought.

This thread is nuts. Surely you want the PS2 AES sticks?

LOL bingo. No better sticks for KOF than Neo Geo sticks.

nah, for Kof XI?? I got the import (well its coming eventually) and i need to have an ok setup for the ps2. No AES sticks aren't cool cuz they need the 5th button! I guess your right about capcom sticks for capcom games etc..

So there you go, the discussion is still open lol

L & R buttons? They look kinda small, but I'm sure you could press them. I've never played the Neo 2 sticks or KOF XI though so I'm not sure what the E button even does.

If you want to put forth the time and effort, you could make your own arcade sticks. Even with atomiswave layout and everything. It would probably be cheaper than any of the expensive sticks mentioned (Hori, Neo2, Mas)

If you get MAS sticks, you can have them set them up for every system, PS2, DC, SAT, NEO, even N64. They make their own PCB that all the buttons are wired to and it has outputs to a bunch of systems. My sticks are only wired for DC, but it looks like wiring them for PSX would be pretty simple. I have no idea how to wire them for Saturn though. Plus they make them right in Long Beach.

Heres a thought. If you have the SF aniversary sticks, but the sticks suck, why don't you replace the sticks with real arcade sticks. HAPPS competition sticks should solve all your problems. You can put in HAPPS buttons as well while your at it. I know I've read something about this somewhere online. It was probably Shoryuken.com

It should be very easy because of the size of the wooden box its in. I think there about the same size as MAS sticks, and theres plenty of room to work with inside. This is actually a pretty common mod I think, because as you said, the SF sticks are not exactly very precise. It shouldn't be too hard to find a walkthrough online somewhere.

You know what i probably do that eventually, but i got a MAS stick for $60 shipped :glee:

If THAT one is not cool then im going to have to mod my SF stick as last resort. lol

But yea SF stick sucks for Kof REALLY BAD, for 3rd stikre its awesome though. I guess its not meant for the tightness of king of fighters
