Anyone else playing ESPGaluda Arrange Mode?

I'm still working on Arcade Mode with Ageha, and can get consistently into 5-1 on one credit, but I'm only scoring around 13-14 million with regularity. I'm getting more consistent, but still dying a few stupid deaths (mainly on stage 4 boss) - reading high scores in Arcadia can be a bit discouraging, but I've made good progress, considering I've only had the game for a bit over a week.

Anyway, I've gotten really into Arrange Mode because I love the ESPRade style of play, and because the insane difficulty is fun in a masochistic kind of way. My high score thus far is only about 29 million with Chihiro up until stage 3. Looking around though, the high scores for this seem absolutely nuts. Anyone else playing Arrange?

You do know how to change the boss you get right? You should read my first entry (right under the score board) in the HS thread if not. If you manage your rank properly and do some mame practice on the boss pattern you should have no problem (mainly because the emulation does not have the slowdown, so it is much easier for the PCB, esp. if you cheese the bombs). It is pretty easy actually as some of the better STG folk have done it in one night from first play.

Yeah, I know how to change 'em but the airport as the second level is perfect with the two big bomber items in it. For me sky high is the worst stage with my absolute worst boss otherwise I'd take that stage first.

I've heard many people saying arrange mode is similar to esprade
too bad I havent played it even once, believe it or not I stll dont use romZ

I've tried arrange mode few times, I manged to do about 20-25 million with BLACK up middle of stage 3
I learnt, anyway, that attacking enemy with Power Shot, you can finish it using as many...umm...bobbles(?) as possible so to receive a multiplier bonus
also, since in arrange mode amount of bullets has insanely increased, you could get shitload amount of extra gold

I'd like to know BBH, Shapermc and Verbatum scores

atm I'm too much into GradiusV, but i'll surely give another shot later

Hi guys.

I'm looking to sink my teeth into some Dreamcast shmups. What should I get? Giga Wing 1 and 2? Zero gunner 2? Mars Matrix? Anything else?

I know Psyvariar 2 is on DC too, but what about it's other versions? GameFAQs lists several different Psyvariar 1's and 2's already on or enroute to Xbox and PS2.

ARC
Psyvariar 2
Psyvariar Revision
Psyvariar: Medium Unit
DC
Psyvariar 2
PS2
Psyvariar Revision
Psyvariar: Complete Edition
Psyvariar: Medium Unit
XBOX
Psyvariar 2: Extend Edition

What differences do these feature?

about DC Spike has already told you
-gunbird 2
-bakuretsu muteki bangaioh (not really a shmup, but get it anyway. It's made by Treasure :D and it's amazing)

Psyvariar was first made in its complete edition(medium unit+revision)
in 3 different packages
-complete edition (red cover)
-complete edition special sound box (with OST) green cover
-complete edition special capture box (with special DVD) blue cover

then after like 2 years medium unit and revision have been released separately in budget editions

psyvariar 2 is gonna be released on XBOX as well but dont know what extrafeautures it'll have

The other people here in MN wont even play Batrider because they think the difficulty is too punishing. Levels 6 and 7 are impossible, stupid little blue lasers. :envy:

I might be able to 1cc normal course if it wasnt for Envy being the boss I end up getting.

I wish I had one of those sexy vert. cabs. :drool_2:

I don't play my Armed Police Batrider board much simply because I don't think it's really that good of a game. Still, I understand your love for it, and that's cool. If I ever decide to sell it, I know who it's going to!

I've managed to get about 27-29 mill. with Chihiro. I like it a lot as well. It's really satisfying to see the screen filled with gold almost constantly :D

Would it shock you to know that I don't have galuda yet?

I can get like 6.5mil on ESPrade and get to level 5.... that is pretty poor though.

It shocks me, what are you waiting for? The board to go down in price (j/k)?

Actually if the board hit the $150 mark I would get it if I still don't have the game. Anyways, as I have stated before shmups are not on the top of my gaming priorities right now. I will get it eventually. If I could find it for $50 + s/h I would get it in a heart beat, but I still have so much to do with ESPrade that I got some time.

I didn't know that you have played that many PC Engine shooters?

Well that might be a little bit off but there are 2 that I have played that rock and one decent one IMO. But I have yet to play the Macross/Spriggan games which I have some hope for.

Just got through browsing the contents of my Romzzz Box today, and I must say,Dangun Feveron has got to be one of the best Shmups of all time.

Does it command a hefty price tag? Where can I get one?

So, it's time for the legendary battle:

Pulstar or Blazing Star?

Fight!

Blazing Star

Pulstar is just too easy. Not to say that it blows or anything, rather far from it actually, but I just enjoy a round of Blazing Star way more. I love the rush and intesity, a quality which Pulstar is lacking in my opinion.

I'd be willing to bet most would agree with me when I say that Pulstar is WAY harder than Blazing Star. I can nearly 1CC Blazing Star on MVS difficulty, whereas Pulstar is just tough as nails. Anyway, I agree in general that BS is the game with more staying power - Pulstar, while great, just doesn't get me seriously into it as much as BS does.

Pulstar.

I really like BS but there's something in Pulstar that draws me in like a magnet. Yeah it's difficult, but that's okay because you'll get a true feeling of accomplishment if you beat one of the later levels. Excellent game, and well worth investing some more time into it.
