That pulstar is overpriced, reason enough not to buy it. The blazing star board pics are all way too bright I cant see how the soldering is. That seller also sold a blazing star aes conversion in Jan of this year, I wouldnt take the chance on it.

Exactly my thoughts.

There are so many well made conversions around these days that can hardly tell what is original and what not.
Of course you can open the cart and have a look at the boards yourself, but you might damage the cart or the sticker by doing so. Maybe the seller already did.
What if you open it after buying just to find out that it is converted?

I would only buy such expensive titles from trusted members here or ebay sellers that have been in the "neo business" for some years and have earned a decent reputation.

Wow, I bought Blazing Star on AES when it was first released.. if only I'd known and hadn't traded it for a consolized MVS way back in the day. :/

I believe I bought Blazing Star, Metal Slug 2, Wakuwaku 7, and RBFF2 for $250 each from Buyrite Games (no longer in business). All were US versions except Wakuwaku 7.

Can you tell that Pulstar apart from this conversion?

http://cgi.ebay.com/PULSTAR-aes-jap...euxvideo_Games_VideoGames&hash=item3360e33887

If you can't, then you probably shouldn't bother with the purchase.

Wow, I would never know this was a conversion if the seller wasn't honest enough to disclose it.

It's scary how professional bootlegs and conversions have become and that there's practically no way of telling the difference without opening the cart (which no seller will allow because of the cart sticker...)

And even trusted sources that trade high volumes don't always know if their used games are all original (eg. shops like Superpotato).

Blazing Star didn't get a US release.

That's exactly the reason why I'm against conversions of any kind. Apart from the fact that perfectly fine carts have to be sac'ed for them (I pity every FF3 that had to be disembowelled for a friggin' conv), it's a fact that some high-q convs are getting passed on as originals all the time.

It's getting worse with every year that goes by. This madness has to stop.

If you can't afford a certain game, buy it on MVs or don't buy it at all, period. Support the real stuff, fight the boots.

You can tell the difference between the Pulstar(original) and the Pulstar conversion. if you look at the offset insert at the top and down the right side its missing about 3mm which is the case on all conversions on Pulstar. Ive never seen a Pulstar conversion what matches the exact artwork of the original.

Heres my original

014-20-1-1.jpg

Now look at the conversion which is missing about 3mm of the artwork.

Edit- Yes the Pulstar original is mine for £500, reason its priced high like all my neo stuff is purely because i have best offer on all my items so fire away with offers.

Edit again - Look down the left side of the conversion and compare it wiith mine, its missing artwork down that side aswell.

This sort of stuff is pretty depressing in that it is so hard to fight once it gets to this level and says nothing good about human nature. I like to think I could sell my rare carts someday if I wanted or needed to, but if there is almost no way to know for sure whether or not I might be unknowingly ripping someone off, I would hesitate to sell high-priced carts. This sort of stuff has me doubting all my carts. Though I got them years back before high-quality boots were as common as they are now, I still hear stories of boots even from back in the day.

At least the artwork test is encouraging. There does always seem to be small differences in where the art work begins and ends. But I don't have a great eye for such detail. Bleh, damn thieves.

I think Dion used to sell converted Pop 'n Bounce carts on the Neo Geo mailing list for like $500 and people would buy them.

They should burn every converted cart that exist in this world

thats how you stop the disease from spread

Plus: burn the ppl who made them .

No, I sold/traded all my Neo stuff because I lost interest for several years.

I don't think you'd want the MS2 even if I still had it. The first set of MS2 and RBFF2 roms dumped (back when neogeo was first starting to be emulated) for emulation were from my carts... that means the labels got screwed up from having to take the carts apart to get to the boards. :/

I second the burning option. Maybe we could start a program similar to Shaq Fu for the Genesis where an internet site was buying up all copies of this horrid game and destroying them. If we sent every boot we came across to Shawn for disposal we could surely put a dent into this. Just a thought...:)

If I were to buy expensive carts on Ebay I would buy from US sellers only. At least you will know their address and easily get their phone number, so you can kick their ass if they sell you a conversion...

Do it the traditional way. Tranquilize the guy and leave him in a tub of ice. You get your money back from selling his kidney and he lives to lament his mistake for the rest of his life. XD

Seriously though, it's difficult to prosecute on pirating stuff so old that their copyrights and patents are expiring left and right.
