Have any of you ever done one of those real world mystery/solve a murder room exercises? What'd you think of the experience? (You go into a prepared room, filled with clues, and try to figure out the solution to the scenario in the time limit). I think they sell board game versions too?

One of my coworkers just posted a photo with her and her family successfully completing one and it looked like fun. I passed and noticed that business in the local mall a couple of years back, and, while it looked interesting/unique, I haven't thought about it again until today...

I mean those are kind of two different things. There's escape rooms where you solve environmental puzzles in order to leave within a time limit and then there's like murder mystery dinner theater where the crowd solves the crime.

Escape rooms are fun but somewhat limited because the space never really changes and the kinds of puzzles they can set up are generally the same. Really comes down to the group you go with... if people are in to it (without being TOO into it), it's a good way to spend an afternoon.

I've always thought dinner theater was lame but I don't care for the theater in general so YMMV.

I think they were in an escape room then, I don't think any actors or food were involved.

My mother attended one around Wrestlemania 3 and the hotel was the same one the wrestlers used. The Iron Sheik ended up asking her what time it was? Very polite which kind of surprised her as she'd seen him on tv.

I've done about 7 or 8 of the boardgames. I prefer the "Exit" series.
I've done about 7 or 8 Escape Rooms. Mostly as work functions. They are alright. I think it's all about Axe throwing for team building these days.

I'm with Big Bear, Monk is one of the best crime dramas ever made. Monk's OCD/germophobia buffoonery is a nice contrast with the more serious subject matter of murders and a breath of fresh air in the genre.

Monkwas awfull, the further it went the more unrealistic it became. His ocd was inly there when it wasn't too inconvenient.
Absolute insult to intelligence.

I happened to see the final episode randomly while it was being rerun in the middle of the day on USA or A&E or something, and it was aggressively stupid. I'd seen a couple episodes years earlier, but If I had been a fan of the show and seen that series finale, I would have been tempted to go Kaczynski on the entire network.

M liking it tracks perfectly, because it fits right in with his dvd boxset choices.
