Well, if he has 2, he might have sent the wrong one by mistake...

But he says he tested it before it left his house, so somehow, the board got thrashed in transit...

Stop right there, people!!!! I traded this one to a member on here for a working one plus $400, thank you very much. Do NOT try to run my name through the mud, as that is NOT the case.

The one with the black screen I got was thanks to arcade god... I had a member here ask for the unit and $400 for his working one. He wanted one for display, and so I paid $400 for the broken one I got from arcade god, and then took that and pain ANTOHER $400 for the one that worked... I don't even own that one from that post. Shit, if I could only remember the member on here that traded me that, damn it. I'll try to find his name so you guys know I'm legit.

Jesus, this whole thing is getting out of hand. :envy:

Just to be clear, I don't think anyone accused you of anything. I said it was interesting that they both had the same problem.

Since this is a thread asking for help, you will get a lot of different opinions of what people think is fair. It would be nice if you could list the name of the person that you traded the bad cart to (and paid for another). I notice it is not listed in your feedback though? (And you mentioned it was a member here)

OKay, here's the fellow I traded that non working one to:

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/member.php?userid=4947

Name's scott. I traded that broken one to him for a working one... plus I had to pay him another $400. So I dont' even own that one anymore.

This situation's messed up enough. The last thing I need is someone trying to make me out to be a thief. Thank you.

BTW, I did put him in his feedback... look in his feedback. I was looking for ANOTHER TS cart. Feel free to send him a PM about it. He has it in his home still, I would assume.

For the record, my opinion is that the 2 should split the cost...

The only reason Steve should split is because he didn't put it in the useless static baggie...

Other than that, its the buyers responsibility...

And personally, if I were in this situation, minus the static baggie incident, there would be NO WAY I would refund someone... my stuff has always been sold as-is, and I pack with care...

And the new stuff I sell has the manufacturers warranty...

Static didn't kill the board.

I'll reserve my "other" thoughts...

Steve is good people, and there is NO FUCKING WAY IN HELL that board left his house non-working.

You know I love ya TonK but at the same token, as a buyer, when I pay for something, I expect it to be delivered and working. Granted, the item was used and am I no way accusing Spike of sending a bum board, but even if insurance was put on the package, most carriers would not cover it because of trying to prove that the board worked in the first place; therefore Billd would be back to square one. Also to, Stating something as "Sold As-Is" only works if Spike explained that to Billd. If he did, then that ends it. But if he didn't, then why should Billd only get back half of his money? I guess being in a situation like this last year has left me a bit jaded considering I went through a similar issue last year with a member on another board.

As for Static, if it didn't kill it and the box is in good shape, then why did the board die?

Pretty much agree with everything here.

I feel the cart died on transit, it needed to be in a static free bag at least because everyone knows cps3 carts are the most fragile piece of arcade hardware you could get. These carts are way to delicate. I hope you guys can resolve this.

Seems like you missed some other posts also. Maybe you should take time to read everything BEFORE you make a post. He has already stated what happened with the previous Third Strike cart and he posted a link to the person he bought it from.

Here's a question to all of you that have personal experience with CPS3 hardware.

Is there a particular revision setup for a Third Strike cart? I'm referring to how the Hyper 64 had certain boards for certain carts (ie ... The driving game couldnt be played on the same boards as the fighting games.) Does the board for Third Strike have a different voltage or config that the others dont? Remember, I have never owned any CPS3 stuff so sorry if this is a dumb question.

Also ... Was this being played in a cab or through a supergun setup?

you're just a friggen' troublemaker dubs.

as for spike and billd, you're both respectable guys on these boards. you all know things can happen once a piece of hardware leaves your hands. you've both bought and sold carts and/or boards to people, maybe you've gotten away without a mishap.

it happens, eat the losses, neither of you owe eachother anything. this is the reality of selling the types of items we do.

if you think it smells like shit, then don't deal with eachother again. just stop tarnishing your good names already. getting 50% back on a purchase of this type is damn good.

down the road you guys can make it up to eachother if opportunity arises.

I was told the cartridge was working just fine. Steve even went so far as to test it directly before shipping. It wasn't sold to me "as-is" IIRC (I saved all of the PM's if I'm mistaken).

@Phillip: The cartridge was tested in my Sega Astro city in my confirmed working SF3: Third Strike motherboard. Even after Steve's 3rd strike black screened, the Japanese cartridge booted right up, so I know its not my hardware that was at fault. Also, I have a TON of experience with CPS3 hardware. I have had every game at one point or another for CPS3, not to mention I have seen first hand every revision of hardware.

All I can add at this point, unless further evidence surfaces, is that a 50-50 split should happen.

Is there some kind of "Void" sticker on the cart?

If bill opened it, well...

I'm not out to get anyone here...

I'm not blaming...

But this is the only solution...

There are capcom stickers on the sides of the cart, they were sliced from whoever installed a battery into the cartridge (its a non-capcom issue 1/2 sized 3.7v). So the cartridge came to me with the seals already broken.

From what I've been told, the seals were NOT cut...but peeled back...

So whats up with that?

Care to explain?

Oh, and if you think you are getting 75% back, you are nuts...

No, they weren't peeled back, they were sliced with a blade, probably razor before I recieved the cart. You were mis-informed.

And no, I'm not nuts. I think 75% is a very reasonable settlement for this matter. Keep in mind I did nothing wrong here. I purchased a WORKING, tested before shipping game, and it arrived DOA. Please explain why I'm nuts for asking for 3/4 of my money back instead of ALL OF IT? I think it is you who is nuts, and I do not think your opinion in this matter should be relevant since you and Steve seem to be discussing matters in private.

Had the money transfer happened with paypal, and had I opened a dispute, I would get a full refund no questions asked.

You are NOT getting a full refund...

And if it was my sale, you wouldn't be getting a dime... you are lucky you have that cheesy "static bag" excuse...

The stickers were peeled back... not cut...

Okay, I don't want to say someone is fucking someone here. It's a deal that went freakin' south. All I know is the cart was in nice WORKING condition when I sold it. I just wish this all would have worked out perfect, as all my sales have in the past.

Yes, I am talking to Tonk about this deal. He's looking out for me, as I'm sure you have friends doing the same for you.

Point is, I've never had a deal go down like this. Ever.
