In all seriousness... The worst part is when you start to get used to it. I remember when I was younger and it was a shock when things like this happened. I would have never joked about it. Now you just kind of shrug your shoulders and don't think much else. Pretty shitty situation all around when these acts happen and it sort of becomes expected.

Something tragic happens with guns...every liberal politician with a social voice comes out against guns, every time, within hours of the incident. They speak of the actual tragety for a short time...then go on and on about gun control for months afterwards.

Now...IF they were so fucking concerned about public safety and the useless waste of lives due to something that they deem has zero place in out society (firearms)...here would be a good place to start:

CDC estimates that smokes kill 480,000 people a year in the US alone, over 6,000,000 worldwide.

Firearms, according to every place I've looked (both pro and anti gun) is around 30,000/yr in the US. (An estimated 60% of which are suicides)


Now...I fully understand this is an agenda issue and logic doesn't apply here...

BUT...480,000 yearly deaths due to a completely useless item with zero social purpose -vs- an issue that is less than 10% of that...you'd think that if you were such a fucking humanitarian, you'd focus on the big issues...

That doesn't even factor in the financial costs of cigarette related health issues...which is staggering.


One last little nugget of information...

Let's say there are 30,000 firearms deaths this year and in each case, a unique firearm was used in each circumstance. That's 30,000 guns. With an estimated 300,000,000 firearms currently in the US...that's a whopping .0001% of them being used in firearm related deaths.

But facts do not matter...crisis hopping, dumb fuck emotion based politics are what the people want.

Y'all have had FORTY FIVE school shootings this year alone. Other countries don't have these problems! What sets the US apart is ALL THE FUCKING GUNS you have. Yes, it takes more than a gun to pave the way for a school shooting, but it's a pretty important fucking part of it. Without the gun there'd be no shooting.

First off...I am offended by it because with an ocean of preventable deaths each year in the US...celebrities and politicians choose to single out one thing again and again. Ultimately, it has nothing to do with firearms and everything to do with agenda. If politicians took to the TV and addressed every type of preventable death in this magnitude, I'd probably be silent about it...but they don't.

Second...you are missing a larger point (as many do). With 60% of those 30,000 firearm deaths being suicide...do you really think those 18,000 people that stuck a gun in their mouth would simply give up and go on living had they not had a firearm?


The deal is this...there are hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths in the US each year...a number that far outweighs those killed by firearms (by a long shot). Politicians take the stage and bitch and moan about one issue because they have an agenda against it, and little else.

I am offended by idiotic agendas, no matter what they are.
