Tarantino's storytelling is a mess but it works somehow so it's not that the disjointed aspect of Sin City is bad per se, I just don't think it was fully realized in the movie.

Why was Josh Harnett in the movie anyway?

I know the prologue sets the tone for the movie and Sin City itself but he adds absolutely nothing to the story otherwise.

The movie could've been so much more.

Sure it wasn't historically accurate to say the least (Greeks referring to the Roman calender? Spartans mocking other Greeks for being homos?) but it was still an awesomely badass movie that I would probably watch again.
i must admit this entire post turned me on :emb:

Man this movie got raped in the reviews I read yesterday. I was planning to see it today, but I was filling time with the WSJ and NYT last night on the plane and they were having a field day.

Had nothing to do with historical accuracy, it was consensus (almost verbatim): "this is mindless shit taken to a new, albeit pretty, level".

I guess I'll watch "The Host", that actually looks badass from the trailers, and the reviewers seem to agree.

At first when I read the title, I thought he was talking about me. That's all I have to add to this thread.

Saw the movie last night, and it was awesome. I wanted to go kick random people's asses after seeing it. Mindless fighting and gore FTW!

You gotta know what you're going to see is all. I saw 300 last night and its fucking AWESOME! It's basically "the man" movie. Just lots of violence and even some tits for added affect. It's sooo good though, and those who hate it are just against the innacuracy of it, and I imagine were hoping for some deep plot. This will have none of that. It's pure violence and madness.

This is DragonForce the movie.

Only bad part IMO was the "traitor" scene. just bad acting there.

This is awesome.

I saw it at an Imax theater and thought it was good. But everytime I saw Xerxex I just thought of Spin and then wondered if he pencils in his eyebrows as well.

Every explosion in any movie ever.

Check it.
You still don't get it, do you?

It's not slow motion per se, it's slow motion used every 3 seconds for every mundane action in a fight sequence.

Terrible.

I'll wait for dvd. I'll watch it just to watch it, but I hated the comic.

I second this.

But the 300 is still getting me into the theater. Though monsters trump Spartans every time.

Gwoemul or "The Host" was somewhat disappointing to me.

There's a few scenes that totally make the film worth watching; and it was certainly ambitious, but in the end, for a monster film, it was lacking in violence & bloodshed.

But as I said, there's a few scenes that really make the movie.

The monster FX in some instances (the opening scene in the beginning is amazing) are quite spectacular... but other times they look a bit out-of-place and silly.

I'd still recommend seeing it though at some point in time.

As for 300? I've been looking forward to it for a while now and will find out for myself if it's what I've been expecting it be in about an hour or so (from the reviews I've read so far, I'm pretty sure I'll be enjoying it.)

I really ejoyed the movie. I do not care what it is based on, just into the violence level and the fighting styles shown.

Just watched it in Imax and it was great. Fuck the haters, this makes Russel Crowe's Gladiator look like a pussy. And stop complaining about the slow motion, it was hardly distracting and the only time I found it noticeable was the part where Leonidas mowed down like 20 Persians.
