Ok, first off, I love Xerxes. I never thought I would say this, but the idea of Black Persians rocks.

And it's funny that Black Persians would be accused of slavery.

By the Greeks.

Leonidas had really nice white teeth, and wore eyeliner.

And holy shit, 300 men with perfect fight club abs? Damn.

You guys know it was based on the comic that was loosely based the Battle of Thermopylae, right? I don't think the director was going for 'historical accuracy.'

Morons.

That's what I said.

Hey if wasabi wasn't smart enough to figure out the movie was based on a comic and not the actual battle, I wouldn't expect him to understand your reference.

Thank you Terry.

Hollywood is an exceptionally poor place to look to for learning of any kind.

The historic inaccuracy in many scenes is actually pretty insulting. Normal people wouldn't know that it was based on a comic and so the messages of the movie are pretty manipulative. Whether or not you're supposed to know it's a movie based on a comic doesn't matter. For example, I guess we should bring in Apocalypto.

I don't care if it's historically accurate or not.

I just want to see violence goddammit.

I'm pumped, I'm seeing this movie tonight.

I am sorry to hear that comic book movie #79 does not meet your historical accuracy standards.

I'm a history nut and The Battle of Thermopylae is my *favorite* historical event of all time. I don't really care about the innaccuracies or the "dramatization" of it. The story is badass; and we're not even talking about what Frank Miller did with it.

If someone is getting their history from a movie, they're a drooling retard and deserve to look like an asshole.

I understand what your problem with the persian depiction is, but just enjoy it for the entertainment value.

P.S. Who ever said Sin City sucked ass is retarded. Probably the best translation to screen of an comic... EVER.

Maybe.

Too bad that they're both different mediums and what works in a comic book doesn't necessarily translate well on film.

True enough, man..

The Watchmen is un-makeable. I'm convinced that movie is going to be HORRIFIC.
Most really cutting edge books are going to be shit.

Sin City lent itself to the screen, I think we can all agree on that. Regardless, the movie rocked.

It's not just that The Watchmen is unmakeable, but that it could not be made in a manner in which it would be accepted by the public at large and remain true to the book. Nearly everything has to be dumbed down and streamlined for the masses.
