Rescued 3 Mvs 2F cabinets rotting away this past weekend. All have battery damage. Cleaned them up with IPA so far. Have a fiber glass pen on the way. Board 1 and 2 display graphic glitches. Board 3 doesn't boot.

Can they be saved? Which ones would you start with?

Board 1 - traces damaged

Board 2 - surface mount pins

As long as the custom chips (neo257's, zmc2) are operational, it's fixable.

It's still gonna be a hell of a boredom doing lots of patch work.

I've had to repair one of those boards with the same battery acid damage. It's not fun. But as long as the IC chips are good then it's fixable. Just a lot of time invested.

I went at the boards with the fiberglass pen tonight and it looks nicer but still same issues. I may have gotten a few vertical lines back on one of the boards. Looks like further repairs are going to require new solder.

I'm hoping to summon Big Bear to get his opinion before I start experimenting myself.

You can ship them all to me and I'll work with them..you may want to get cap kits for them as well...
They don't look as bad as some I've done in the past but that's when I had a good amount of free time...
You cannot reflow traces btw..
Anybody have the link to that site that sells the cap kits?

Judging by the photos it appears that one or two of the 257's are spoiled.
I do have replacements on hand.
This is a chore so I would say about two weeks to complete.

What do the cabs look like? Decent?
Here is the link for the cap kits

The cabs are in rough shape but I'm committed to restoring them.

The twins are both OE cabs. Both monitors work but haven't tried to dial them in yet as I wanted to get a board working. Planning on repainting/powder coating the metal bits and CP and doing new graphics.

The 3rd is a Dynamo HS-5 cab I think with conversion kit. My plan is to turn this one into a SF2 CE cab. Unfortunately, the monitor doesn't work on this one. Monitor displays dim image but with very little brightness. It appears to be a KI-2-VO chassis with Zenith tube and the neck making a load buzzing noise from vibration because when I apply some pressure with wood stick it goes away or changes pitch.

So out of the 3 MV2F board I 'd like to return 2 of them to service in the Twins. The 3rd board would love to have as a backup, or use for parts to fix other 2, or donate for parts.

Excellent!

You want to PM/email me with service prices and shipping info? ( Not sure if that feature works for me yet as I just joined this site. )
