I have a hankering to watch The Edge. The one with Baldwin and Hopkins.

The Innkeepers- A pair of amateur ghost hunters working at a supposedly haunted old New England inn the weekend before it closes do some half assed investigating while dealing with guests. I really enjoyed this one, it's a small movie and quite predictable with some groan inducing jump scares but the two main actors are very natural in their workplace comrnddarie. Anybody that's worked a dead end job with someone else where you have a lot of free time can find their relationship relatable. Not even an appearance by Lena Dunham could ruin it for me.

I hope the directors new movie "X" is good and gets him some more recognition. I've liked him since I saw House of the Devil years ago.

@terry.330 Ti West is great, first saw him in You're Next then watched all his movies can't wait to see X. Looks like it's going to finally get him some mainstream pub.

Watched Deep Water, Christ was it awful. Affleck alone almost made it watchable but nothing would have saved that.

Titane
Woman fucks a car and gets pregnant. It kinda works in a Gary Numan "I relate more to machines than humans" way, but it wasn't that great. I'm kind of disappointed based on the trailer and her previous movie Raw, which was amazing.

Lamb
It's basically what you see in the trailer. Worth watching but nothing really stand-out other than the character design and the puppetry / CGI / live action combo that made it possible.

Spiderman No Way Home
Other than the giant Macguffin of a plot, the rest of the movie is very solid. The premise of the movie and how the plot evolves... is idiotic . You really need to get past that or you're gonna have a bad time. I was expecting a few more twists and turns, but it came out great in the end. Can't believe how many of the previous villains I just flat out forgot about until this movie.

Spoiler:
Finally an appearance by venom. even if it is brief.

RE: your spoiler - his appearance was utterly disappointing.

I was more excited for the appearance of the lawyer aunt may contacts at the beginning of the film. That cameo was surprising.

But yeah, I enjoyed the movie as silly as it was.

Finally saw Ghostbusters 4.

It's the same fucking movie again.

Not once, not twice, but four times in a row these motherfuckers made the exact same movie.

What a piece of shit.

Honestly, if they just played the original in theaters a few times a month, they'd probably make a ton of money. I'd see it multiple times a year.

Even Ghostbusters II isn't awful.

It's the exact same fucking movie, but at least it has the whole cast back.

When Rick Moranis turned down the new Ghostbusters because he hated the script, then signed on for a Honey I Shrunk the Kids reboot, that should've been a big red flag.

In the late '70s, two amateur filmmakers, two porno actors, a stripper, and a hustler have a get rich quick scheme that involves making a porn. They rent a guest house in a geriatric hillbilly's farm. They don't know that the hillbilly and his wife pine for their long-gone youth and get off by killing young'ns. It kinda felt like they didn't go hard enough on the overall theme of the bummer that is aging. This might've been a restriction based on the old age makeup and whatnot – not being able to show a whole lot of action and dialogue for the old characters. It's not very scary, but it's a somewhat more interesting take on the slasher subgenre than what you usually get. Recommended once it gets on streaming services. I think I prefer the director's older movie, House of the Devil.

I went back and quickly rewatched this movie. I remember seeing it before, but nothing memorable about it. Something about the look of the movie really resonated with me, but it is from 2011. The film really feels more like 90's to me. Was an interesting rewatch.

All of Ti West's movies have very different aesthetics and atmosphere. House of the Devil is very 70s, kind of dreamy and washed out, Innkeepers is very late 90s, Sacrament is found footage and In a Valley of Violence is a bright western.

I never hear anyone talk about In a Valley of Violence, that one is basically John Wick in the old west.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (terrible 2022 version) - easily the worst movie I've seen in a while. Just awful, everyone involved with it should be banned from the industry and also sterilized.

Netflix gets ever closer to being cancelled by me, which is saying something considering I've managed to pay for fucking premium Hulu for four years now.

In A Valley of Violence- I made note to re-watch it after my previous post and it's on Netflix so I did. A lot more spaghetti westerny than I remembered which is a plus. Great cast, makes me wish John Travolta was in more westerns, he seems very suited for the part of the evil sheriff/marshal. It's kind of weird seeing Vera Farmiga's little sister who is like less than half her age but looks exactly like her. It really is John Wick in the old west with a small budget and none of the slickness. Recommended.

McQueen- Doc about fashion designer Alexander McQueen who is best known for his avant-garde conceptual pieces and elaborate productions. When you think of stupid impractical fashion and pretentiousness it's most likely this guy that comes to mind. This is real life Zoolander shit. It's all more than a bit ridiculous but seeing footage of the actual shows he put on was quite impressive, the man certainly had vision and some of it is certainly stunning.

I think a lot about this and I'm close as well. Right now, we have 2 streaming services, which is my limit. There's a service here called U-Next, which is a little more expensive than netflix, but gets more movies sooner, and they made a deal to get all the HBOmax stuff that got pulled from other services. So I'd finally be able to watch Peacemaker among other things.

To be honest, the one I'd like to cancel is Prime. They have the worse selection of the two services we get. By far, really. But it's Amazon Prime, so we want the free shipping and whatnot.

you should probably cancel netflix. @famicommander has scientifically proven it can make you want cock. first it starts out with meh movies. then shitty netflix shows and movies. then you'll be watching MMM.

But without netflix, I never would have had the opportunity to watch Annihilation, which was fucking fantastic. For some reason in Japan, it was a netflix exclusive. That one movie alone earned netflix a shitton of goodwill from me.

I would cancel a lot more but my wife watches 1 or 2 shows per platforms. We're paying $95 a month so she can have junk TV on demand. I didn't even know she added Disney+. I've been pirating that stuff for a year.
