This game already had an official release on platforms massively more popular. This would put it in arcades for the first time, officially, so I guess that’s good. I don’t know what the popularity of this platform is though. Maybe they sell a lot of them in the UAE, maybe Putin has a row of them in his palace. Casinos perhaps. Where have people seen the Arcadia in actual duty? Do they have American distributors who will lease? None of the arcades I know of or have been to in the last 10-15 years are in the position to pull the trigger on something $6000 unless it’s pinball or one of those 10 foot high Space Invaders things. Many of them may or may not be running pirate MVS carts though…

Dave and Busters has one…

Just because it doesn’t have a large US presence doesn’t mean it’s a flop.

Oh yeah, I realize that. American arcades are too broke to make a hit out of anything but used DDR machines. However I’m not sure any arcade scene on the entire planet would be enough to make this thing not flop.

What most people don't consider or realize about modern platforms, is operators are not only required to purchase hardware/services but also required to share a large portion of the revenue. Thats where exA fits in, you purchase the hardware and you keep all the profits.

I understand all Round 1s in the US are getting eXa setups soon. There's that, anyway. I'll definitely go check it out.

So it’s exactly like having paid-for hardware then, like having an MVS. Honestly that almost sounds like code for “we don’t have good distribution”.

It's also terribly bad timing, hell arcades in Japan are shutting down left right and centre especially with the pandemic.

To be honest arcades are hiding in the damndest of locations, and usually it’s the worst places on earth that often have the newest biggest most expensive machines.

Anyone who had been to the “I80 truck stop” in the 90s remembers when those places brand new MoCap Boxing and Daytona 2 machines. Extremely expensive machines, maybe $20k list, and they were changed out with new stuff all the time. That 911 game followed the boxing games. As a gamer you’d never think to check that crazy shithole for top tier games but it had them.

Cruise ships have arcades, those tourist trap/human rights hellhole places like Qatar have arcades. Putin’s palace does seriously have an arcade, that wasn’t a joke. So depending on how much richer rich people are (a lot richer) this market may actually exist. It’s just nowhere near me. The arcades I know now are all on Gofundme and wouldn’t consider this.

Three years ago I took a boat from France to the UK. It had an arcade packed with the newest games. Most of theI had never even heard about. NOBODY was touching it. Sadly. In the the terminal there also was a ghostbusters pinball which i quite enjoyed. First time I saw the game outside the con circuit.

I remember taking the same boat in the year 2000. Back the. There was a raiden fighters jet machine. Back then it was already an oddity.

I don't think a few thousand dollars is expensive for a new arcade game. I see used Raw Thrills games listed around $16,000 right now.

In this case, yeah, an original MVS cart from 15 years ago is basically the same, and still perfectly legal. But in general, eXa-Arcadia doesn't seem too crazy with their prices. This is what real arcade games cost.

Is it? Does it mean that anyone with an arcade cab, a legit MVS motherboard and cartridge can profit from it?

This might sound like a dumb question, but I'm not 100% sure this would be the case in all countries.

Please show me a basic JAMMA style game with two joysticks and ten buttons that costs $16,000. I want to make fun of it. That is a fucking horrible deal if it exists. Does it only take $5 bills?

Games of that price exist, but typically they are verging on SEGA AM style stuff. How much was a Street Fighter IV or V machine? Was it even $8000? I honestly don’t know but I do know it will outearn anything SNK in almost any arcade.

Looking up now, I can get a Cruisn’ Blast for $10k, an actual sit down racing game. Or pretty much any pin for $15k, and those are all hand built in the USA while paying huge licensing fees out.

The system may make sense to some operators but this game being on it doesn’t unless you already have the system for some reason. Hopefully they sell a multi-slot version.

They only sell a multi slot version. It supports 4 games simultaneously.
